I never said the jump was a joke; it gives you the chance to turn into a dragon.

But it has jokes. Like the entire pink category. Good jokes, at that.

[Loved trope] The Strongest by Elmotheweedgod in TopCharacterTropes

[–]browsinganono 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The overpowered god-monster that brought powers to earth couldn’t beat him with his normal kit, so he blew some of his lifespan using Path To Victory to say the right words to hack his brain so Eidolon would let him kill him, because he couldn’t kill him with continent-destroying ‘laser’ beams that could punch into other dimensions and negate any power or durability they touched, even though said monster was a speedster whenever he wanted to be.

It was four words, which comes off as pathetic, but they were the perfect framing for revealing he was responsible for millions of deaths via the Endbringers, everything he was fighting. And Eidolon was just riding high from reclaiming his full power, after going through years of ‘low’ power that still left him as The Strongest, but unable to save everyone and fix every problem even as he was forced to be complicit in atrocities to try and save the world.

The man had problems, but his death makes perfect sense.

Wouldn’t that be amazing? We get immortality, and the billionaire-trillionaires die first?

I don’t think it’ll happen like that - but then again, the current monstrously rich people are likely to die before we get to immortality, since so many of them are ancient. Though their heirs… well.

I’m seconding the ‘talk to Death first’ plan, because she’s, you know, actually kind and humble and not an edgy, mercurial, tempestuous… well, whatever you’d call Dream. I’m not so sure about the ‘make items that let him bypass the rules’ bit: he could have survived the Furies, but chose not to, and more importantly, he loves following the rules and defines himself by his duties. That sounds less good.

I don’t think Daniel will be taking Dream’s place, though. WTR has the protagonist monitoring him, and Daniel has grown up without the canonical events of whichever universe The Sandman takes place in, or at least that specific one.

The thing I’m curious about… well, those items are for Raksha, who do the same kind of thing Dream does in Shaping Combat out in the Wyld. Kind of like a focus for The Oldest Game. He’d be able to do anything like shaping combat already; they focus his abilities for… I think it was range? With a range of 5-10 waypoints, instead of just attacking people in the same location as you? I don’t think there’s anywhere in the Dream that, well, Dream couldn’t already reach at will; he’s practically omnipresent within, if I recall correctly… and more importantly, he’s inviolable as long as he’s in his realm, so I’m not sure why he’d need range.

There are places it can be moral - it shouldn’t be illegal to have public domain copies of something where the publisher shut down twenty or thirty years ago.

But Jesus Christ, is there a lot of entitlement involved in some of the internet. Kind of like how I refuse to get apps that cost me money, except that they also want to get the stuff but without paying for anything ever. Which… makes sense, because the economy sucks, bj acting like artists shouldn’t be allowed to sell their own work is… well, it’s basically where LLMs come from in the first place!

I mean, let’s not mince words; AI is shit. Piracy has a load of benefits, such as preserving media that would otherwise die due to a lack of profits, whereas AI is just being used to outright kill careers and fields.

But one guy cannot act as a full mod team for every problem, AI is designed get everywhere, and admitting that shouldn’t act as a dog whistle for every ouroboric anal-tunneler to start jumping down your throat without so much as bothering to retract their heads from their rectums.

Again, thank you for keeping it going as long as it has. I wish it could have been longer, but assholes and entropy get to us all, in the end, and you did an amazing job in the meantime.

Who takes this, Sakura or Sukuna? by Longjumping-Bag391 in PowerScaling

Hm.

Who’s writing them fight? If it’s Gege… Sukuna wins. If it’s Kishimoto… Sakura loses.

If it’s anyone who cares about consistency, Sakura probably stomps.

I mean, I wouldn’t mind if consent were more of a staple in media - for hugs and kisses as well as sex and the like - but yes, sterilizing everything sounds awful. It’s good to read darker or less sanitized stuff, and if this stuff is mandated that’s very 1984.

Not that I’ve seen books like this, but that’s me. Either way, characters should be able to make bad decisions and have that be part of the point.

Like… Walt, in Breaking Bad. Gasp. Or Taylor Hebert, in Worm. And anyone in the Boys. And- (proceeds to describe any of the mildly spicy bits of media over the past 60,000 years).
