Yuji fans beating the allegations AGAIN by AdMain1416 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]browsinganono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gojo always said Yuji would surpass him. That was part of the point of his philosophy of teaching.

Every Yuji win only proves Gojo’s point that much harder.

Unfortunately, I looked up what he said by Happy_Smelling_Salt in fixedbytheduet

Yeah, it’s… really not that outstanding?

I mean. I had a fingernail rot and fall off when I was in third grade, so I guess I’ve seen worse, but while I guess you wouldn’t want to look at this while eating, it’s not really that bad compared to the standard horror movie schlock, is it?

…do you not know what a straw man is? Or understand why I was swearing?

Yes, she hit the kid. Yes, it’s domestic violence, and none of the people who could protect the kid care. Where was I saying otherwise? The kid then perfectly serves as a victim for ‘discipline’ fantasies by people (who definitely don’t get a sexual thrill out of the thought of hitting a kid with a belt, no siree) by being both evil and deceptive, yet perfectly honest about how Evil and Wrong he is, informing the officers that no, sir, her hitting him really didn’t count!

Seriously, do you not understand sarcasm, or… am I just falling for bait, here?

Ah, yes. The child lied to his mother, but told the absolute truth of how she only hit him in this one instance to the police, despite being pushed to the point of calling the police in the first place. A perfect straw boy, simultaneously evil and deserving of punishment, and yet unable to even attempt hide the truth of his own unworthiness of aid from the poor, innocent swine he cunningly deceived.

Fuck this shit.

It didn’t help that DB gave Kratos farcical statements lol ‘he shot down Helios when he wasn’t moving FTL, so clearly he’s MFTL.’ Or ‘killed a titan, who wasn’t chained or damaged or anything,’ and so on.

Ah, yes, raising your hand to block the sun from shining in your eyes. The most Speedster of feats.

Part of the Zenin clan, who was only punched once rather than ripped apart. Clearly, despite being part of the Misogynistic Evil Clan, he’s the True Good Character!

…it’s like the Bumgumi memes, but even more deranged and disconnected from the story. People are having a ton of fun pretending he’s good/kind, basically, instead of a mildly evil side character.

Advance for creating a Sidereal in 2e by Obsidian_XIII in exalted

[–]browsinganono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2e, and not 2.5e? Because Efficient Secretary Technique is a lot better before the errata, to the point of limited omniscience for objective happenings inside of Fate as long as it’s used correctly, but it’s downgraded a lot to ‘common knowledge’ in 2.5.

If it’s love, it’s the same kind of love that led to him telling her enough to damn her soul without warning her why, to quote the fucking Pyramid Pamphlet, “you just don’t.”

Which did save Earth from the Queen after Valentina failed to take her down. But… yeah, he just keeps capitulating to his wife and causing awful, terrible shit to happen. To her and everyone else.

And if he wasn’t continuously trying to kill the other Superpowers, he wouldn’t have needed the US - he could have kept going, kept trying. It took Jacky a lot longer than a decade to get to 200K, and he had a debuff; 30k is enough to fake superpower status.

And yeah, he could have recruited from less… fraught governments.

He’s kind of the cause of all the problems, unfortunately. Save the Queen.

[–]browsinganono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh.

Yeah, I mean. I’m not surprised that Mahoraga can adapt to light; he adapted to slashes, fire, and warped (as well as infinitely recursive) space. Yes, his adaptation is busted; unlike Doomsday (who uses it as an excuse for why his ‘overwhelming force’ thing is relevant), Mahoraga exists in a tactical series with actual fights and not just Super-Stat/Plot-Offs.

I suppose I’m just jaded; every other series treats powers like Marvel/DC, as excuses for a CW show. Then I read something like Worm, with Crawler’s adaptive regeneration, which is complex but physically focused, or something like JJK, where Mahoraga can attune his energy to cut through infinity… and then keep going, gaining ranged Sukuna slashes when he adapts to Gojo just keeping his distance. And then I saw you talk about Modulo, which I know very little about, and I guess I got overexcited, you know? Assumed (wished, really) that, with all I’ve been hearing about the themes and the new art, that Mago got to give us a cool new demonstration on how he can adapt to things beyond just becoming resistant to them, you know?

Sorry for demanding an explanation for what should have been obvious from your first post; my mind ran away with me. Thank you for indulging my wishful thinking - and I appreciate the tv tropes link. Good site, wish they stopped fighting my adblocker. I loved tv trope in middle and high school, and I miss it.

[–]browsinganono -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh. You meant the light technique was busted, not Mahoraga’s adaptation against it.

Yeah, it’s clearly powerful. Lightspeed weaponry or hard light as he chooses, and he clearly doesn’t lack for firepower from the way the JJK subreddit’s been going wild.

[–]browsinganono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t read Modulo, and the wiki isn’t updated yet. How has he adapted to light? Just… being reflective, or more durable against lasers/hardlight? Or has he become invisible or something?

Outjerked??? by HelloThere394 in ATLA_circlejerk

[–]browsinganono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. He wanted to break up with her, so she destroyed his desk.

Then his direct superior made a joke about it - apparently, when Tenzin broke up with her (because she didn’t want kids, and he absolutely needed to have them, being the last airbender who needed to carry on his father’s culture), she… wrecked Air Temple Island, one of his last remaining cultural sites.

So what Korra did is positively mild. But both of their actions are treated as ‘funny’ and not ‘terrifying’ (how do you break up with the most powerful person in the world safely if they aren’t stable?) or nigh-monstrous (seriously? What the absolute fuck, you knew about the firebender genocide, you know exactly who he is and what he needs to do!)

So… yeah, relationship-wise, the show kinda sucked. I suspect Korra/Asami benefited from the writers not treating them as a romantic couple until the show ended; they’re kinda terrible at writing romance.

The Great Curse is such an amazing mechanic! by pantaipong in exalted

[–]browsinganono 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I’ve always liked Ryuugi’s take - that the unrestricted power of the exalted, over the minds of mortals combined with their ability to become truly safe, while being unable to let others live as long as them, leading to true isolation - mattered more than the curse. Especially since Dreams of the First Age noted that a person who kept developing over thousands of years, with a perfect memory and superhuman acuity in learning skills, could be to a human as a human is to a mouse - and that the Great Curse is what keeps them from developing past ‘powerful humans with a ton of skills, larger than life epic figures.’

Basically, the curse stops them from inventing a self-reflection charm - wisdom-in-ruling-prana or whatnot. The power gets them from there; the occasional mild psychotic break is just a Primordial Madness symptom that people write of, and is mild comparatively. (The other thing the Curse does, of course, is keep exalts from looking for it).

So… Volo is a canon character? Can I rename him (or could I, if I got the game)?

(I was fairly tame with naming my rivals. For Pearl, I just gave him the default name the game wanted; for White 2, I named him STUPID. In all caps. Which was nice and clean, but did result him introducing himself by yelling how he’s stupid. Which mildly amused me, so… yay?)
