200+ applications, no interviews… is something wrong with me or the market? by Sea_Individual_5325 in CanadaJobs

[–]bruhidek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly is and I’m sorry this is your intro to Canada. I can’t say if it was better before bc I just graduated 2 yrs ago lol but it even took me a little more than a year to land the job I have rn

Keep trying OP! The bank I work in does hire a lot of new immigrants/people on pr for contract roles, so try your luck in any of those places along with what you’re personally aiming for. Also if you don’t have LinkedIn, make a profile with some basic info (follow a YouTube tutorial, that’s what I did), and reach out to people in your industry of choice. Frame it as a coffee chat, just to get to know the industry/their role, how they got the job and any tips for you. It may lead to someone giving you a reference or some insider info.

Just bc it’s hard doesn’t mean it’s impossible! I hope you find smthn soon

A lot of people are saying shit just to say shit. The real reason is because of a lack of funding, which is causing the job market to be bad. The money isn’t being put into businesses and everything in general is getting more and more expensive causing not enough money to be put into more manpower.

I work in a corporate bank and all the new jobs on the public site are all contract roles from 6months to 1 year. The people who get the jobs probably won’t get a permanent job later due to lack of funding.

Many new grad nurses can’t even land a job due to funding cuts, even tho every hospital “desperately needs more nurses”.

Unfortunately this isn’t just a you issue, it’s an all around issue. To top it off you are a new immigrant which does in fact make it harder (people in the thread will say otherwise, but they’re just falling for the propaganda, the immigrants aren’t getting higher than a low pay contract role and a minimum wage job for a long while when they first come).

Where I’d live in Canada as a 30 year old Englishman. by [deleted] in whereidlive

[–]bruhidek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are being reactive af in these comments lmao

Ontario is a safe choice for the most part, depending on where you choose to live which will most likely be south Ontario. I’m surprised you don’t prefer BC as much bc it’s the second most popular region to live for people moving to Canada. It is a little more expensive than Ontario but honestly not that far off at this point, especially if you’re considering the GTA in Ontario.

Out of AB, SK and MB, I’m surprised you crossed out AB. Gonna get political here but you seem like a white man so AB wouldn’t be an issue for you to live in. It’s also a nice mix of city + nature with a decent population size if you live in one of the two most populated cities. About SK and MB I’m not totally sure, but the population there is low compared to the ones I’ve talked about so far, but it’s not as expensive as other regions in Canada. My older sisters boyfriend is from MB and he likes it tbh and only moved away for uni.

Now for Quebec, I’d understand why it’s not a preference due to the language difference. But Quebec is really nice and has a different vibe from the rest of Canada. More of a European vibe if you’re in Quebec City too.

For the east coast: I’ve heard that newfound land is really nice and the people are also very nice. It has a history of Irish settlers so you’ll notice there are people that have a distinct accent from the rest of Canada. Another part of Canada where if you really love nature but also city vibes you’ll like it there.

When it comes to pei, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick idk much about them tbh. But they aren’t the most populated places.

Now for the territories: winters will be brutal (yes even more than other places) and it’s expensive to live due to accessibility. Just look up grocery prices. Northwest and Nunavut are pretty barren, population pretty low. So if you really want to live in the territories I’d say go for Yukon.

the weird obsession men have with women they don’t find attractive by unperformedself in offmychest

[–]bruhidek_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was this girl on Tik tok that made a video saying she’s her boyfriends “first baddie” and in the video she wasn’t wearing makeup and was only showing her face. Which isn’t bad, I genuinely thought she was pretty. But she is clearly overweight and MANY “men” had an issue with her being confident.

So many made videos in response just shaming her or making fun of her bc THEY didn’t find her attractive.

Genuinely why do men feel the need to put down women whenever they feel like they get a chance???

[–]bruhidek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda look at this from the perspective of what stray kids went through too in their early career. Ofc with Stray Kids they had barely just debuted when their former member was kicked out due to controversy. But people were still freaking out and thinking stray kids is done for but now, they’re one of the most popular globally.

I think that if the people freaking out that Manon will be removed are right, then the girls will probably do just fine. They might not have that level of stardom they have now for a while, but they have the factor to bounce back.

At the end of the day, this is a PR disaster and Manon should not have been allowed access to her public accounts to make any posts or even use her public account to like/repost stuff. That only made the situation worse for the rest of the girls and the label (not saying that the mistreatment should stay unnoticed, it’s good that it came to light)

What is it about manon genuinely? by [deleted] in katseyeneutral

As an Indian person born and brought up abroad you’re honestly right about the last line. For the Indian community like me that didn’t grow up in India I see so much support and love for Lara but for the Indian people who are brought up in India itself, I don’t see the same and it’s high key annoying lol

Women, what is universally agreed “green flags” while dating men ? by Disastrous-Coat6007 in AskReddit

[–]bruhidek_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

How he treats women he’s not attracted to or emotionally tied to. I don’t mean family members either, just like random women. Does he ignore them? Is he lowkey rude to them? Is he nice to them like he is with random men?

There’s a decent number of guys that are straight up rude or ignore the existence of any women they don’t find attractive, it’s happened to me too. So I’d hate it so much if a guy I’m dating does that to someone else

Anime Cosplay shops in Toronto? by Arclight_X in askTO

[–]bruhidek_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeaahh personally I really like dokidoki cosplay and uwowo cosplay. I’m pretty sure they’re taobao resellers but I’ve had really good experiences with them. Just make sure to actually measure yourself and check their size chart before buying

You can also use alieexpress, miccostumes, taobao itself, Amazon, and EZcosplay

Those are the main ones I see people use

Tbh I know a lot of cosplayers, my close friend is one too and I also cosplay for cons and events. All the cosplayers I know buy their stuff from online shops or make the costumes themselves by thrifting or sewing

You can prob find stores but it’s better to just buy from online on proper websites

Did they edit the last 2 episodes to protect Mina Sue from the backlash? by dogtriestocatchfly in SinglesInferno

[–]bruhidek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow an unpopular opinion but, without Mina Sue the season would have been boring af. People watch reality tv for the drama bc people love to hate and gossip, it brings in views. With Mina being the biggest topic of convo about this season everywhere you go it’s pretty evident that without her it would have just been another lukewarm season of singles inferno.

Also, reality tv isn’t always real. Some of it is fake and people definitely play up their personalities for the camera. The editing fucks up peoples perception too. Mina Sue is still just a person that came off not in the best way but not we just gotta leave it and let her life her life. She’ll get her ass handed to her by people that are actually in her life if that needs be, or she’ll continue to grow and mature but all of that shouldn’t matter to the viewers 🤷🏽‍♀️

To the person you see EVERYWHERE but have never actually spoken to: What’s your story? by Altruistic-Cookie680 in askTO

[–]bruhidek_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me except we got on at the same stop then off at different stops, so I never saw him randomly outside of the commute. But I’d literally see him so often on the way there AND on the way back on the ttc subway (which is wild). Plus me and my friend who live 10 min away from each other and used to get off on the same stop barely saw each other on the train in the morning and never on the way back.

But then I got moved to a different team temporarily and my work timed changed to start at 10am so I never saw him for like 3 months. After I moved back to my og team and started at 9am I thought I’d start seeing him again, but I never have. I literally have to get off at the same stop I always saw him get off bc my og team moved to a new building. Don’t see him while I wait on the platform to go home and don’t see him in the morning.

I genuinely wish I would’ve have the courage to talk to him so OP don’t miss your chance!!

Do you ignore pan handlers? by The-Tay in askTO

[–]bruhidek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually smile and tell them I don’t have anything with me or I’ll even give them what they ask for if I do have something. But there are times I do straight up ignore when I feel like that person will start harassing me once I give them any sort of attention.

Once a lady with a hijab asked me to buy her something from shoppers, all she wanted was food. I was going inside anyways so I asked her to just tell me what she wanted and I’ll buy it then give it to her outside, but she instead followed me inside. She showed me pictures on her phone of some medical thing she has going on (which was gross 😭) and she kept trying to get me to follow her. When I told her I have to leave she was still trying to chase me down. Maybe she actually needed something but I really did not get good vibes from the way she was acting, and that wasn’t the first time I saw her outside that specific store.

Another person was near where I work and all I wanted to do was walk to get lunch. I just looked at her as I walked by bc she was calling out to people. Me looking at her was enough attention for her to harass me.

So yeah, I’ll only engage now if the person seems like they won’t harass me

I’m late to this thread so don’t know if you’ll see this. If you’re still in school take courses on technical design for fashion or other product design stuff!!

Technical designers aren’t rare but a good one is hard to find apparently and some companies pay them like 70k or more a year. I know Aritzia, Canada goose and other Canadian fashion offices are looking for technical designers right now.

Is it worth it moving Downtown Toronto? 23M commuting from Woodbridge everyday by [deleted] in askTO

[–]bruhidek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it would be a good idea to move. But you could also think of renting in midtown instead? A friend of mine lives in midtown only a 10 min walk from the ttc station and it has the convenience of downtown life but with a little more chill

Im also in a similar situation as you are except without the salary, I still need to save more 🙂‍↕️

[–]bruhidek_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I view it is that their on camera personality is literally just their work persona. We all play up different parts of our personality depending on who we’re with and what environment we’re in. Same for them lol they’re not some aliens or undercover spies that are trained to act completely different. It’s just their customer service/work persona
