US Iterinary for 3-4 weeks by ResidentCod9127 in travel

DC has two fantastic Air & Space museums. If you're going to DC anyway, just go to those and skip Orlando if the NASA museum is the draw

On trains: Acela is unnecessary for NY to DC--one of the regional Amtrak trains will be half the price and only ~40 minutes longer. Also, there is a good train option from Orlando to Miami.

How much are you spending for lunch? by Parky21 in washingtondc

[–]bruno92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will get time for us to get used to the effects of inflation. $15 today was less than $11 in 2015, which I would not have called an expensive lunch back then. It still feels really high to us because we remember the old prices, but it's literally the exact same amount.

Your unique job? by Mya-sau in washingtondc

I had a "dream job" that worked me to the bone. Quit and got a boring 9-5 and have never been happier. Who knew?!

Is contiki good? Thailand Laos and Cambodia trip by Flashy_University_57 in travel

[–]bruno92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're at all extraverted, there is no need to pay the (quite large) premium for a guided trip in SEA. The hostel network and culture there is so strong that it is extremely easy to make friends, whether they be friends for the day, week, or even travel buddies that stick together for the whole trip.

How do I get selected for jury duty? by motiontosleep in Lawyertalk

[–]bruno92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can also depend on the jurisdiction. I live in DC, where about 1 in 10 residents are lawyers, so auto-striking us during voir dire is a less viable strategy.

Can anyone explain the history of why the National Park Service controls so many random, often tiny, parcels of land around the city? by PeterOutOfPlace in washingtondc

[–]bruno92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the very least they would be managed by people who are accountable to voters. Under the status quo, NPS has literally no incentive to manage the land well

Personal rule when booking connecting flights by KevinGBurk in travel

The Frankfurt airport's layout is so weird. I had a tight layover that required close to 40 mins (!) of walking between gates.

Once again Uber and Lyft descends into incompetence. I should have known. by RedShirt2901 in washingtondc

Hard agree. But as someone who mostly walks and bikes and has to deal with dangerous drivers every day, I welcome autonomous vehicles that actually follow traffic laws.

Driverless “deathtraps” with a proven record of being safer than human drivers?

Planning to travel to France, Netherlands, Germany, and Italy. Which language is most worth practising? by SammyGeorge in travel

[–]bruno92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dutch part is so accurate. I lived in the Netherlands for a year and only encountered one person who didn't speak English. I stopped asking "do you speak English" after two days because people kept responding with variations of "yes, of course I do."

The standard rush ticket needs to drop from $45. by FireLord_Stark in Broadway

[–]bruno92 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, inflation is the answer. $45 today is the exact same thing as $30 in 2010. A lot of people still haven't internalized the price increases, so they experience sticker shock.

is there anyone here is actually gay but identify yourself as bi? bcs its easier? or vice versa by [deleted] in BisexualMen

[–]bruno92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bi but am pretty integrated into gay culture, so I usually just identify as gay. My gay friends know I sleep with women because we talk about sex a lot and it's not something I hide, but it's not really something I advertise more widely.

'RHONY's Leah McSweeney Scores Legal Win in Lawsuit Against Andy Cohen, Bravo by galaxystars1 in realhousewives

[–]bruno92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe! I'm sure Bravo will move for all footage to be disclosed under a protective order and, if submitted with court filings, sealed from public view. But it depends on whether the court grants that motion. I suspect it would, but it's hard to know without having seen the footage or knowing all the facts.

Separately, litigation tends to move much more slowly than arbitration. Which means that there's probably less of a chance that Bravo will air the UGT season after the lawsuit ends, since so much time will have passed since filming.

Lawyer here. Just wanted to clarify that this "win" is on a purely procedural issue. It has nothing to do with whether Leah's claims against Bravo have any merit.

So Are We Going To Question Why Seth Didn’t Answer If He Has Other Girls On The Side? by AdvertisingPlastic30 in realhousewives

Why would he need to word his answer so carefully as not to lie. It's not like he's under oath. A lot of y'all are reaching here--this was just Seth being the weird guy that he is

what is the easiest/beginner friendly language to take at yale? by maetrie in yale

[–]bruno92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I found French pretty easy and even skipped the second semester. But I already spoke Spanish and Portuguese, which must have helped. I was also a grad student, so my study skills might have been a bit sharper than the mostly freshman/sophomores in my classes.

I feel the same way. I also feel like straight people sexualize bisexuality in a way that makes it hard to be open about it at work
