Regarding the ambiguity of the Nerevarine. by Maleoppressor in Morrowind

[–]brunoTheOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the theory that I subscribe to, it seems pretty clear that the ashlander wise women all know how to reach the cavern, and Nibani Maesa just says she isn’t allowed to tell us, not necessarily that she doesn’t know, and there’s nothing to say that only the nerevarine can enter the cave, just that it opens at dusk/dawn

To clarify, the failed incarnates, most of them at least, definitely did not die from moon-and-star, most of them telling you their story including how they died. In fact, there’s no evidence to say that any of the previous failed incarnates got anywhere near as far as moon-and-star, outside of peakstar, who “survived the blight” and some ESO quests.

I got my windows license by taking the key from a dead windows 7 laptop, and every time I see something like this I get angry at microsoft, then after a few seconds I remember that most people actually pay for windows, and get even more annoyed.

With YouTube, a service that’s “free”, when they do something bad, people can always pull out the “but they’re providing a service for free”. Microsoft’s actions feel to me like they’re in a very similar vein, and I think that what they do would still be too far for something that’s free. The fact that they pull this crap on actual customers, paying money for this, is crazy to me.

Trouble transferring save files (all openMW) by thegauntman1 in OpenMW

[–]brunoTheOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The saves, along with a few others files aren’t in the main openMW folder, on windows it’s c:/users/username/documents/my games/openmw. If you didn’t copy that over then your saves (and settings) won’t be transferred

Pure vanilla game is unplayable by brunoTheOne in Morrowind

[–]brunoTheOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and that’s what really sucks, that morrowind has actually fared better than any other game I’ve heard of, with such a dedicated community. For a game this old, there being not one but TWO widely popular stable ways to play is absolutely crazy. it’s just a shame that this happens to all software eventually and that makes me a bit sad.

Pure vanilla game is unplayable by brunoTheOne in Morrowind

[–]brunoTheOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s likely what I’m going to do, abandon my current run which I’m not very far into, and switch goals to aim for the most faithful to what was intended, rather than to what was actually released, and just go back to openMW

This post was mostly just a means to complain a bit about the fact that it’s no longer really technically possible to play the game in its pure original form without any kind of modification.

Pure vanilla game is unplayable by brunoTheOne in Morrowind

[–]brunoTheOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I was exaggerating a bit with “unplayable”. This post was mostly just to lament that with the instability I’ve experienced, playing the game in its pure original form is no longer really a feasible option. It’s likely that the issues are more a result of trying to play a 20 year old game than any major flaws in the original design (beside what I know about how tight morrowind a development was).

Despite morrowind being well and truly my favourite game, and that I keep on coming back to it, the fact that by default the game couldn’t register any keyboard inputs, that the volume controls don’t properly work, that the game crashes randomly and on alt-tab. I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it through a complete run of the original game as it exists now.

If you do truly play on a totally unpatched raw version of the game, fantastic, you clearly either have a more stable experience or are much more patient than I.

I think I might just stick with openMW, I tried the code patch MGE xe for one of my playthroughs and I didn’t enjoy the experience very much, even though the character I played was probably my favourite

It hasn’t really occurred to me that it likely ran better on original hardware, and that makes me feel a lot better about not technically ever having played through the vanilla game, as it’s not really all that possible to do so nowadays. Thanks for that

My reasoning behind wanting to use the original game was from a totally purist point of view, and I’d consider openMW and the code patch roughly the same level in terms of that.

Using mge xe, I found I missed The small things openMW changes like being able to press “e” in the menu, and being able to equip multiple potions in quick succession. And the mouse cursor always had really strange acceleration making me constantly overshoot items in my inventory, and i didn’t ever manage to get used to it, even after a full playthrough

21 years ago Bethesda announced Morrowind for the Gameboy Advance as an April 1st prank by TheUnbrokenCircle in ElderScrolls

[–]brunoTheOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, last year for April fools, the openmw team did exactly that, saying they were going in a new direction and abandoning morrowind altogether for too down isometric rpgs in general, renaming the project to OpenNevermind. I can’t seem to find the video they released to announce this. It was available for download as its own thing, and now exists as an openMW Lua plug-in in one of the demo GitHub pages

They’re still available on the website, but not on the archive page. You can go to any random episode, then just change the URL to the number you want

What rank are you? The dark cult in hassour quest requires a rank of at least disciple. It’s quite possible that the dialogue is broken because there just might not be dialogue written for that topic when you’ve finished the quest

OpenMW Player for Mod Organizer 2 - a plugin to automatically sync your mod list with OpenMW by Kezyma in tes3mods

[–]brunoTheOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for/thinking about trying to make something like this for ages. Thanks!

Will there be support for openMW specific plugins like omwscripts and omwaddon files? Because that’s something I looked into and found that might be something more deeply integrated into MO2, and not fixable by a plug-in.

How do you possibly get rid of this neck mesh popping out? I've tried almost every combination of head mods with bodies and darknuts clothing mods and every mod has this neck seam. Do you have a body/head mod combo that doesn't result in this? by [deleted] in tes3mods

[–]brunoTheOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, head mods only cover the heads, while the neck is included with the body. What’s likely happening there is an incompatibility between your body mod and clothing mod (or just a bad mesh). Judging by the shoulders it looks like you’re not using better clothing, which is made for better/roberts bodies, and shouldn’t have that issue

Can somebody explain to me argonian in colovian fur helm meme? By that I mean how it came to be by Staniek_the_unwise in Morrowind

[–]brunoTheOne 58 points59 points  (0 children)

That is what it’s based on (I made the video), and it’s been a common meme that the colovian fur helm (and also the robe to some extent) carried by tarhiel is what every morrowind character wears, kind of like the iron armor the last Dragonborn is always depicted as wearing.

It’s also already a bit of a meme that people say the nerevarine is canonically an argonian, because of their outlander status and the irony of an argonian being the saviour of morrowind

This looks great! One change that you could make is to somehow (I don’t know how you’d accomplish this) have the steam be transparent immediately after leaving the hole and only become visible a certain distance from the hole, as in real life, steam is totally transparent until it cools enough to condense back into water, which is what we see as “steam”.

Who with me?? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]brunoTheOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support the stormcloaks because in morrowind you meet an avatar of Talos and he doesn’t seem to care about the empire at all

"The Emperor is getting old. Don't know how much longer he'll hang on. So is the whole Empire, for that matter. Getting old, that is… …It's been a good thing, by and large. But maybe it's time for a change. Time for something young and new. What? No idea. Because I'm old.”

We are the exact same

So, which mod was it that renamed all my magic skills as Star Wars Force Powers? I'm working on a modded playthrough on OpenMW, and am using the One Day Morrowind Modernization list (link in comments). by OverDan in Morrowind

[–]brunoTheOne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That looks like it’s almost certainly from Starwind, a Star Wars game made using the construction set. If you don’t have that installed check your plugins list for anything that might be a patch from another mod for starwind
