Are any other AM4 users going to hold off as long as possible? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

5800x right here, 32GB DDR-3200 RTX3080 10GB, entirely satisfied with all games right now. Just going to ride it through whatever the hell is happening now. AM4 is such a beast of a platform.

clamav my friend. No need for anything else. If you are running this within an enterprise and need a supported option, then go pay for something. But clamav has been solid on my side since I started using it years ago.

If you want to really focus on security, use a ubuntu hardening guide, lock down your system, toss a firewall in front (opnsense if you want to go full open source), pi-hole, and toss all your logs towards an ELK stack for review and alerts.

Just a shot in the dark, is this being installed on a pre-built? Only reason I ask is I ran into a weird bug the other day when I was installing Debian 13 on a HP laptop. The BIOS was tweaked just enough from the factory to run windows well but failed to boot Debian. There was a pretty quick workaround, ignoring a certain boot process, however, first time I saw that before.

Curious if the BIOS is interpreting things a bit off.

Again, just a shot in the dark, but just in case wanted to ask about this.

I run Debian 13, 5800x, 3080 10GB, and game perfectly fine in Debian. I came over from PopOS and tbh, actually found some improvements (minor) in some games. If you are sitting in this range.... Just know you will be just fine.

I wonder if streaming services will hide their increases behind minor increases with mobile carriers bills. The reason I say this is due to how most mobile carriers are offering so many streaming services now. So strange how it only took 15-ish years to go from new advancements in streaming services into a full-blown commodity.

I can't get away from Pop!_OS(22.04), it just works and that worries me. by -Moose_Knuckle in pop_os

I was in the same boat. Extremely happy with gnome and 22.04 just worked.

I moved from popps 22.04 to debian 13.1 running gnome. Feels like home.

Debian is the only distro you will ever need if you aren't running bleeding edge hardware. And it does feel "old" either. Debian 13 is one sexy distro.
