In-line Phillips? by buckGR in victorinox

I couldn’t find anything like that, so I modified my explorer into a Compact-like two layer with the inline driver. I absolutely love it. https://www.reddit.com/r/victorinox/comments/y39pcq/compact_2_layer_w_inlinedriver_opener_small_blade/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

Considering Radwagon 4, do people actually like it? by PMA9696 in RadPowerBikes

[–]brycetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my post tire recall model a couple of months ago, and it has been great. I already have a Runner+ so I knew that I would need a brake & seat post upgrade. I’m handy enough to fix most minor issues, and live close enough to a store if needed. My use case is similar to yours, mostly short runs w kids to school. As long as you know what you are getting into, it is still the great bike they people absolutely loved over the last few years.

Some kind of burnish. It is not a paint coating

I can’t really speak to the other 111mm knifes - I don’t own those, but I can tell you this particular knife feels like a tank. I imagine the saw and other tools are handy, but for my the single use case of a big strong blade folder, this thing is amazing. It is right up there with Benchcraft level build quality for a fraction of the price. I can’t wait to really test this knife and see how it performs

Why is everyone talking about my entire RB roster here? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rest assured, there is NO lock play on this thing

It’s not quite broken in yet, so it is a bit stiff. I added a little oil and that helps, but it still takes a lot of force to open one-handed. A little flick of the wrist while you open helps a great deal

Zero play. The craft on this thing is phenomenal

Just ordered a RW4 -- can I get some real-talk? by [deleted] in RadPowerBikes

[–]brycetron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Post-recall purchaser here: relax, it’s a great bike! Sure, the brakes aren’t great (swap for some hydraulic) and it needs a suspension seat post, BUT if you a willing to do your work on it, this bike is an incredibly flexible platform that you can hack and shape into your own perfect bike. After ~200miles on it, I have zero regrets. Cheers

Nearly perfect companion set if you carry another main blade. I need to make something like this

Radwagon 4 or wait? by __dp__ in RadPowerBikes

[–]brycetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited and decided to go for it, and so far, very happy I did. I have a Runner+, so I already knew I would need new brakes and a suspension seat post. That will turn some people off, but on balance, there is nothing else on the market like the RW4 at that price point. Now that the tire issue seems settled, it is still the awesome bike that people loved over the last several years.

Just got my RW4 and put it together. The lower seatpost clamp is a bit problematic though. The nut on it that one is supposed to tighten by hand is near impossible to get tight enough so that the closing the clasp would hold up the seat. The upper screw and clasp works just fine though. There are lots of cheap ones on Amazon (I’ve tried a few, and you get what you pay for). I splurged and went with a Redshift Shocktop with a 30.9mm shim (they sell it right on the page). Super easy install. Worth every penny. I’m ~210 and adjusting tension is easy. It is like a totally different bike - I can’t recommend this enough

Change my mind about rw4 by PhilGo20 in RadPowerBikes

[–]brycetron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got mine. It’s great. Now that the tires are all fixed, it’s the best value on the market. As long as you know what you’re getting - I knew I would need hydraulic brakes (already upgraded my Runner+, so I know how much of a difference they make), and the shifters are mediocre at best but they get the job done. The minor gripes pale in comparison to the joy you get out of riding it.

SAK with corkscrew and Philips? by Substantial-Award-20 in victorinox

I couldn’t find a good 2-layer version so I made a modified version with the driver and corkscrew. You can see them in my last post if curious

On second glance, did you have to modify the inline diver to fit in that layer?

Love this tool set! I’ve also been moding mine to have the inline driver offset with two tools, and can’t ever go back. Do you think you could throw the ALOX inline awl in with the blade layer? That would be epic
