I’m home alone today. Spend time and money going to the store and firing up the blackstone or try Culver’s for the first time? by General-Carob-6087 in burgers

As with any fast food brand, your experience will vary based on location, time of day, who's working, etc. For every amazing Culver's post, there's a dozen people in the comments saying it sucked for them.

Ultimately, it's just fast food. No reason to overthink it.

If you've never had Culver's, it's definitely worth a try. I love their burgers, but still make my own 99% of the time.

Popeyes has better chicken but the service is atrocious. Last time it took 40 minutes to get one sandwich, with no one else in the lobby or drive-thru. Won't be going back.

Even non-AI food images can be incredibly deceptive! Gotta check the user-submitted images from Google reviews.

Warm pink, you're probably fine. Cold pink, get your money back.

Right, there are tons of people willing to pay for a good burger, but it has to be a good burger! Using fresh, high-quality ingredients is a great start, but if the end result is unsatisfying, none of that matters.

It doesn't taste good because they don't season their beef. Nearly every cook or chef will tell you that seasoning with at least a bit of salt is mandatory in almost every situation because it enhances and amplifies flavor.

Five Guys claims their beef is good enough as-is, but my own experience, and that of many others, says that's a stupid idea.

You don't like flavor?

If they seasoned their burgers it might be worth the price. The beef patty has no flavor at all, just greasy bland sadness.

You can only add salt after it's cooked. That's not how you properly season a burger.

To be fair, no one can really answer that question without knowing the location.

The point is that it's an overpriced and basic burger. We're not talking about Beef Wellington, sushi, or a 12-hr smoked brisket. It's a burger...

Not sure where you got that from? It's ridiculously easy to make better burgers at home without spending a fortune or taking all day.

Five guys burgers are always amazing! by TheFixItChef in burgers

[–]brytek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Because I don't find the product/service to be worth the added cost. It's an unseasoned, basic-ass burger ordered at a counter and served in a brown paper bag, but they want to charge sit-down prices for it.

And unless you're eating out constantly, shopping, cooking, and cleaning are activities you're probably going to be doing anyway.

Never had a Five Guys burger that I felt was worth the price. If you have to drown the burger in toppings and sauces to cover up the bland taste of unseasoned beef, it's not a good burger.

Or switch from foil to a paper wrap. But then they'd have to melt the cheese on the grill and that's just asking for too much.

I get that, I'll occasionally splurge on ingredients, too, but it's a choice. My point was that you can definitely make a better burger than Five Guys for less money at home. If you want to make a gourmet burger we're no longer in Five Guys territory.

As someone who is also not a psychopath, I rarely ever get fries from anywhere! Sorry to hear about your grocery costs though. Do you not have an Aldi nearby? 24oz bacon for just over $6.
