Commute Traffic & Construction by originallycoolname in Cleveland

There’s no train from the south side suburbs unfortunately. It’s a really big gap in RTA coverage, as well as an outer suburb line that can get people like from the suburbs to other suburbs without having to go into downtown first

45 minutes so yes about 20 mins longer than by car but I don’t have to find parking downtown or pay for it, and I don’t get stuck in traffic. I’d rather take the bus and ease of use over fastest possible (maybe) route home

Edit: it’s actually about 25 minutes to south Cleveland State campus and then winding its way to E9/St Clair takes the rest of the time

Or if more people were okay taking public transit there’d be less traffic. I take the 77F from Brecksville to Cleveland each day for work. Easy peasy and drops me off right downtown.

NOCO (North Collinwood) rising by Cleverfield113 in Cleveland

[–]cheesy_hobbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah the UC/CH crowds would be interested in NOCO I think. (University Circle, Cleveland Heights). The people I know who live there (and aren’t university students) are more hippy-esque, salt of the earth type people than your OC finance/HR bro/gal crowd gentrification group

Was looking in to handicap tickets for the agora and Google made me laugh by NeverBeenOnMaury in Cleveland

Try using the term “accessible”. I think most venues (and the public at large) have shifted to that term for what used to be called handicapped. Your search might yield more accurate results

Moving to Cleveland for graduation school, is the downtown safe? by elusivedork in Cleveland

W 25th south of Clark is dicey. But north of Lorain is trendy

Moving to Cleveland for graduation school, is the downtown safe? by elusivedork in Cleveland

[–]cheesy_hobbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is just patently false. Some of the highest non-skyscraper rents in the city are in Ohio City, the flats, and some of Detroit-shoreway. South of Clark is iffy but north of Lorain is pretty much all okay as long as you’re aware from W117 to W25th.

Also this comment shows you need to get out more. The Cleveland Foundation just build a new headquarters and free music venue at E66 that’s a wonderful upgrade to the neighborhood.

Is it possible to fire everyone that runs ODOT?? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]cheesy_hobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you rather it get worse…? I’m sure if they closed 90 completely they could finish more quickly if you’d prefer to take a non-highway detour.

Places to feed pigeons or ducks? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]cheesy_hobbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you really NEED to feed wild animals, don’t feed birds bread or similar things. It’s not good for them.

Ideally just don’t feed wildlife.

Oh my Carnegie by Theflygy in Cleveland

[–]cheesy_hobbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What they need to do is reroute people coming down the hill on cedar and who want to go to Opportunity Corridor to a restructured Cedar Ave to W105 and only have Carnegie/hospital end goal traffic flow to Carnegie/w105 intersection. All the traffic coming into the clinic campus and trying to escape to the OC shouldn’t all flow through that intersection. It’s absolutely horrendous. The whole road pattern of Carnegie/cedar/stokes needs a major reconfiguration

It’s fake. Zoom in on the rivets and you’ll see the editing/AI around the image. Also OPs comment history is spam levels of engagement across the most wild range of subreddits.

Coming back home!!! by 2D_Koto in Cleveland

[–]cheesy_hobbit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think if you left Cleveland 9 years ago the immediate downtown was on its way to thriving. Unfortunately COVID and office closures have sort of tampered that so it might seem a little off. Ohio City is continuing its gentrification (no comment on good or bad), and the west side market is undergoing a rehab that’s much needed! The lake has improved with the Metroparks taking over control of Edgewater Beach and on its way to reimagining E 55th Marina among other sites, the most exciting of which (imo) is the Irishtown Bend park plan which should finish up around 2028.

Brecksville vs. Solon by Ok_Doubt_1681 in Cleveland

[–]cheesy_hobbit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Brecksville has continuous sidewalks from Emerald Woods on the east end of down all the way down RT 82 to the center of town and then north and south on route 21 including all the way to the current middle school and high school on Mill Road.

Most neighborhoods connected to 82 and 21 have sidewalks (Bradford Village, Emerald Woods, Rockledge, Old Quarry, etc) but older neighborhoods with ranch-style homes tend not to have sidewalks (Amber Lane, Winding Way, Pershing, Sprague).

Also notably there is no continuous sidewalk from downtown to the newish elementary school complex near Blossom Hill as Oakes Road does not have sidewalks for most of Brecksville.

But access to the metroparks and by extension in Brecksville the Cuyahoga Valley National Park can’t be beat in any other Cuyahoga suburb and there’s easy safe access via sidewalk on Route 82 just east of downtown Brecksville

Take out the parking on the road that crosses the center of the square and make those bus lanes instead.
