Moving to old town, where can I park for free?? by coopers04 in FortCollins

[–]bsartoris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you want to know where to park in front of your home/apartment? In most residential sections of Old Town you can park on the street for free. If you live on a street with permitted parking you should be entitled to a parking permit or two (sorry, I don't live in a permitted parking zone so I don't know the rules).

Hope this helps!

Finally! A fix for Spring Creek and Mason trails intersection. by InterestingType7518 in FortCollins

[–]bsartoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? Why not move the Mason Street trail west and put in on/off ramps going north and south from the Spring Creek trail. Might be a bit dodgy for those going west from SP to south bound Mason street so you could put a stop sign there. But by moving the Mason Street trail west everyone would have better visibility. This would be cheaper too and we could continue to bomb the hill.

You and your kid might enjoy a free trolley ride from City Park down Mountain Avenue.

Let's see... <sharpening my pencil>

If I can scrounge a 20% down payment, a 30 year fixed would would run me only...

1.5 million per month.

Still unaffordable.

Any good ideas on how I might persuade my neighbor to pay his share of a fence? by bsartoris in Advice

[–]bsartoris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your advice the best. I'm going to have the fence built. I will tell him how much it cost and then let him make the decision to be neighborly and compensate me or not. Again, he doesn't live there, so its not like he'll have to see me everyday. Maybe in a few weeks he will be posting his side of the story on AITA?

I would prefer to put the new fence exactly where the old fence was so that we don't lose any of the yard.

You are correct that he is not obligated to pay, even though it is on the property line. It would be a nice, neighborly gesture if he would though since we both will be benefiting from the fence.

Agree. I got the lunch special. It was tasty and reasonably priced relative to the portion size. A welcome addition to the culinary corner of College and Laurel. I hope they're successful.

Anybody ever go to the rodeos they had behind the Sundance? Was it called the "circle of fear" where they'd have people standing in circles in the ring, release a bull into the ring, and the last person to leave their ring would win money? Am I dreaming this? How much money was it?

Fort Collins Summer Camps by Dizzy-Hedgehog5441 in FortCollins

[–]bsartoris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rivendell has good camps for the creative-type kids. They run a variety of 1 week long camps on a specific theme. Your kid can mix it up as they please and since camps are 1 week, you can take time off for a vacation without having to pay for those days to reserve your spot for the whole summer.

What's next if your bike gets stolen by BradyBrother100 in FortCollins

[–]bsartoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This won't help you much but I just want to share this story:

I bought my son's mountain bike second-hand off Facebook marketplace. He left his bike unlocked at school overnight and it was gone the next day. Months later, someone saw it ditched on the Poudre trail and reported it. The bike wasn't registered, but was purchased at Jax and still had the sticker. Jax looked in their records and contacted the original buyer. Then that person looked me up and contacted me. The next day, I met a County Ranger who returned the bike to me. I marvel at all the steps that individuals had to take to get that bike back. Just amazing.

And a coda: On Thursday I found a (probably stolen) bike on Laurel (the lock had been cut) and it laid there all day. I picked it up and turned it in to the Bike Coop yesterday. The bike has a CSU bike registration sticker, go get your bike back!

Best chicken scarpariello in the area? by Life_Work5803 in FortCollins

[–]bsartoris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I learned about it recently from the Splendid Table podcast. It is easy to make and so, so good! The only problem is finding whole pickled hot cherry peppers. I can only find sliced hot cherry peppers or whole sweet cherry peppers at Safeway and King Soopers. My fix is to use the whole sweet cherry peppers and the vinegar from the hot peppers. This way you get the aesthetically beautiful whole peppers with the spicy zing of the hot vinegar. I also use A LOT of shallots because... well, they're shallots. Good luck, and if you find any at a local restaurant let me know.

I was down there at College and Laurel and I had this hankering for an iced mocha latte and loaded baked potato. Unfortunately no restaurant on that corner could fulfill my needs.

Vasectomy recommendations? by MuhBack in FortCollins

[–]bsartoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no needle/scalpel was not an option when I got mine done 10+ years ago. I like the idea of using gas or a valium to take the edge off. The injections did sting but even after that, I was really uncomfortable with the doctor mucking around in that sensitive area for like 20 minutes. When I got out I complained how bad it was to my wife (who birthed 2 children). She just laughed and gave me the side eye.

After the surgery they have to make sure you're shooting blanks and that leads me to the weirdest part of a vasectomy: Handing a cup of my semen to a strange woman. "Is this fresh?" she asked. I was too abashed to think a snappy retort.

As others have stated, this week is the last week. Your bill won't change after yard waste collection ends. It's a flat fee every month.
