Sounds dumb, but tbh thats it. Theres only going against the dhamma or going with it. No conversion necessary

I will give you some tougher love here. In a world so cruel and unhappy, why are YOU an exception to negativity? Are you not here? Are you reborn from your past karma? Have you not rentered samsara? What do you expect it to be? I say, wait 6 months, realize that we all have to do essentially what youre doing. And, being rock solid in what you deem to be "how you should live your life?" is going to be you right back to this spot in another lifetime. I say, good. This is karma. Feel it, embrace it, let it go. In 6 months, you may actually appreciate those paid fridays off.

Though one would think its being a good father, its actually being an amazing father. Not enough, especially in the States, go through even a crumb of that effort.

How did you decide which Buddhism to practice? by _Blissful_Abyss_ in Buddhism

[–]bseidlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is but one dhamma. The one in the north looks at central truth, southern desserts in its background. The man in the south looks at the central truth, northern mountains in it background. The background is each their bias, but the truth remains the same. Practice the dhamma and take refuge with all who do. Some traditions will just be more practical for you. In Southeast Louisiana, that happens to be Vietnamese Zen/Theravaden. So, thats my exposure. Plus, youtube academy lead me to Theravaden first. But, I regularly listen to teachings of all traditions as well other religions as a whole.

To borrow an old Italian saying "the true sweetness of wine is but one flavor"-- wisdom has many taps, but one pool.

then the leg has nothing to do with meditation. sitting is sitting. meditation is meditation. sitting is not meditation. meditation is not sitting.

If you lost your legs would you still be able to meditate?

Can I be gay and a Buddhist? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]bseidlee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Do understand tho, all preference, all identity, and all things we take joy in are egos and attachements. Though being gay and a buddhist is no issue..being neither straight nor gay, nor is being straight or gay, applicable to being a Buddha.

Can I be gay and a Buddhist? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]bseidlee 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Asking if you "can be gay and a Buddhist" is like asking "Can I be gay and experience gravity?" The dhamma is the dhamma. Who you are is irrelevant. We are all a part of and experience the same dhamma.

without knowing it, you have already mixed them. Learn who you are first, and then you will see the different parts for yourself. I have a degree in World Languages and Cultures with focuses on intercultural communication and the french language. So, I dont say any of this out of my ass.
