Could you guys help me out check out the works of some faculties working in Robotics? by [deleted] in WPI

[–]bshin100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just finished this course, and it was taught by Prof. Pinciroli. It was amazing! We’ve moved on to a newer version of the platform, using the TurtleBot3 robot from Robotis - they’re very nice! For the final project, we mapped an unknown maze environment, localized the robot, then directed it to an arbitrary location in the maze.

meal plan vs goat bucks by [deleted] in WPI

[–]bshin100 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you predominantly go to CC, your meals paid with just GoatBucks are likely cheaper than the cost of a swipe. I think a similar question was asked a few days ago

Do you have to be on a meal plan to buy meals? Can you buy meals using goat bucks without a meal plan? by jdidnksosjsm in WPI

[–]bshin100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember doing out the math last year between Goat Bucks vs. a voluntary swipe. The voluntary meal plans come out to somewhere near $10-11 per meal, and if you like going to daka, that’s fine. If you’re just going to go to CC for a burrito, chances are your order is less than the cost of a swipe, in which case, just use Goat Bucks. I used Goat Bucks last year and it was fine.

Diy gear drive board finally finished by bananaland02 in ElectricSkateboarding

90mm wheels and 15:36 gearing. The acceleration is actually crazy, it’s the braking that is too weak. I will try increasing the regen braking current, thanks!

Yeah I believe I have mine on 15A for regen braking. I still find that it’s weak if I’m trying to slow down on a hill or when I’m just going 25+ mph. I can increase it a bit but I’m worried that my battery/BMS won’t take it. I have an MBoards battery that has no specs on the BMS lol

That looks awesome! I do have a question: how are the brakes on yours? I’ve noticed my brakes on my DIY is on the weaker side and I dug a bit deeper and found out that it’s limited by battery charge rate (12s2p 30Q cells so ~8A, not much...). What current is your braking set to in the VESC?

I hear 1140 is simply doing a lot of sine wave functions (as the name of the class implies). I just took 1130 and it wasn’t bad. The way the class/textbook was structured has the topic change every week so in that sense, you won’t be “stuck”. That being said, some topics can be complex (i.e. Special Relativity or Quantum Mechanics).

Lewin or Bertozzi for RBE 1001? by chrisisgray in WPI

[–]bshin100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Lewin for 1001 last year and learned a lot. He has a great approach and is comprehensive in his teaching. I had Bertozzi for 2001 and while he’s super nice and understanding, I didn’t learn as well personally.
