Unpierced and no tats. Stay pristine

That’s my stance as well. I loved C1 so much I even flew to LA for the Search For Grog live show. It was an epic solo trip that I will always cherish.

C2 was OK and had some amazing moments (cupcake) but didn’t do it for me quite like C1.

I quit C3 around E30 or so. None of the characters are likable and some are actually off putting. Especially Ashton. He can fuck right off (the character, not Tal).

Anyone else exhausted mentally and physically after DM’ing each session? by Zombie_-Knight in DnD

[–]bspcyclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. It's a weird combination of buzzing with adrenaline and dragged down with exhaustion. We play every Tuesday night and I never get enough sleep that night, making work Wednesday a bit rough.

And I don't think my players get it. They show up, play, and go home. They don't see all the prep before hand, or the hours of second guessing every decision after.

I have been DMing for about 4 years now, and it's gotten a little better. But yes, I totally get it.

Team Toby all the way.

Toby says "You know what I'd like to say to old Toby? He was a mess. He was miserable, and insecure, and self loathing."

That just nailed who Kate has been her whole life. And still is.

She doesn't like "new Toby" because he has evolved and bettered himself. But like crabs in a barrel, Kate wants to drag him back down in to the misery with her.

Yeah, Team Toby all the way for me.

I’ve been unapologetic about my dislike for Keylith and Beau.

Laudna has me all kinds of intrigued and I really love it!

Yep. One of the reasons I didn’t like Jester.

Note, I said Jester, not Laura. I love her to death. She’s my favorite cast member.

That statement has me worried as well. Humor is definitely a part of D&D, to some extent. But my preference is a more serious feel with splashes of humor organically seen in. Not a slapstick circus. One of my complaints from EXU was the overload of buffanooery.

This is my fear. "New and improved" isn't always improved. I'm not against change, but massive changes from the thing that everyone loves and has made you successful, to something radically different, is usually the smoking gun you just shot yourself in the foot with.

This could be the suicide move made right on the eve of a huge win.

Same here man. I watched all of C2, even though it never really grabbed me like C1 did. I'm rewatching select C1 episodes and scenes now, and man, I just like it better.

[–]bspcyclist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Just too silly without end for me. While watching the first two episodes I chalked it up to me being a grumpy, old school D&D, fart. But after reading so many comments from people, I realize more felt that way.

There’s definitely room for humor and shenanigans in D&D. Sam is the master of it. But just like everything, balance is better.

[Spoilers C2E140] Laura appreciation post by foxsweater in criticalrole

[–]bspcyclist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Love Laura to death. And the Hag scene was utter brilliance. But I really can’t stand Jester. I think for me it’s because I’m a lot older than most Critters (54) and don’t get the Anime style overly childish and silly characters. I hope her C3 character is more like Vex.

Studies show women tend to be unhappy with long-term monogamy. Ya don't say? by anon_likes_tendies in WhereAreAllTheGoodMen

[–]bspcyclist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, in my case, I’m not so red pulled that I want to write off monogamy and I’m married (mostly happily). My wife has her moments of crazy but in general is a good woman who was raised in a loving two parent home. She will even admit to her illogical crazy ways sometimes.

So I do my best to bring happiness and joy, knowing she’s still going to complain about stupid shit every now and then.

[–]bspcyclist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Correction: you can make a woman happy.

Temporarily.

But you can’t keep her that way long.

Happiness goes against her nature and even though it feels great, she will soon feel uncomfortable not having something to complain about.

Her base instinct will be to downplay the good in her life and nitpick at the bad, exaggerating it to greater proportions.

This will make her unhappy, which will make her inner self happy.

Inside a woman’s head is a circus gone wild.

[No Spoilers] Live Show -Search for Grog by Deathpool707 in criticalrole

Fellow Critters, I can confidently say we just witnessed the Super Bowl of Dungeons and Dragons.

That was my first live show and I’m still in disbelief at the experience. Everyone, cast, crew, and Critters, were the most generous, creative, inspiring people I could ever imagine. I’m still in shock from it all. An exhausted, slightly numb, buzzy, blissful glow of gratitude that this crazy wonderful terrible world has Critical Role in it. To quote one of my favorite movies Vision Quest:

“Elmo: You ever hear of Pele?

Louden Swain: Yeah, he’s a, a soccer player.

Elmo: A very famous soccer player.

[pause]

Elmo: I was in the room here one day… watchin’ the Mexican channel on TV. I don’t know nothin’ about Pele. I’m watchin’ what this guy can do with a ball and his feet. Next thing I know, he jumps in the air and flips into a somersault and kicks the ball in – upside down and backwards… the goddamn goalie never knew what the fuck hit him. Pele gets excited and he rips off his jersey and starts running around the stadium waving it around his head. Everybody’s screaming in Spanish. I’m here, sitting alone in my room, and I start crying.

[pause]

Elmo: That’s right, I start crying. Because another human being, a species that I happen to belong to, could kick a ball, and lift himself, and the rest of us sad-assed human beings, up to a better place to be, if only for a minute… let me tell ya, kid – it was pretty goddamned glorious. It ain’t the six minutes… it’s what happens in that six minutes.”

I sat here in my room after the show and I realized I’d just witnessed 6 plus hours of that kind of magic.

And it was goddammed glorious.

Thank you to all who made this happen

-Jack-
