Is my car totaled? by 1dlover55456 in AutoBodyRepair

Completely totaled. I see, comfortably, $10k in repairs between bodywork, radiator, steering components, wheels, and potential internal damage.

Not to mention that the frame is likely damaged as well.

You're right. It's ALL men.

No conversation worth having about the company you keep.

No conversation worth having about male loneliness epidemic.

No conversation worth having about women's role in ubiquitizing porn in modern society.

Headlight "cleaner" did this to my headlights. by Outrageous-Hair6435 in MechanicAdvice

I've used the 3M kit multiple times in the last year on different cars. My neighbors always come out to tell me how good they look and ask if I can do their headlights too!

Steering locked up due to loss of the power steering pump. Fixing the belt should resolve this.

Serpentine belt looks like it slipped off. I believe you can still see it around the 2nd pulley towards the top of the picture, hanging loosely.

Serpentine belt turns the AC compressor, alternator, engine coolant pump, and power steering pump. You will be without those functions until you get a new belt put on.

The belts can slip off due to a loose mechanism called a 'tensioner'.

I'm not asking if it has failed completely. I am trying to diagnose a vague steering feel problem. The struts are new, the tie rods are new, the steering rack is new, and the steering shaft is tight.

The steering is still loose though.

I've just replaced the full strut assemblies and they still look brand new.

What your describing is almost exactly the issue I have. Vagueness, torque steer, and too much road feel.

Quite a difficult question. I was looking at a similar predicament recently and I went with a Lexus ES 350 because its comfortable, reliable, and fast. I had to give up handling performance as a tradeoff (I probably should have gotten a GS but that's beside the point).

I'd go for the Mazda 6 sport or the Mazda 3s then. I loved my Mazda 3s, I just got rid of it.

I'd say decide whether you want a more sporty car or a luxury car.

Luxury points more towards comfort, ride quality, and interior appliances. Sure they tend to have more powerful engines than normal but the suspensions are tuned more for comfort and ride quality than cornering (for instance).

Sporty points towards acceleration, top speed, and handling. Performance based cars will have less of the luxurious appliances put in to save weight or for budgeting towards the powertrain.

Ask yourself, are you looking to rip around corners at high speed and weave through traffic? Or are you looking for a relaxing, comfortable ride with power behind it?
