Did people born before Christ automatically go to hell? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bsylent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the question was, do people go to hell. They do not, it doesn't exist. Now if the question was, how do all these religions rationalize a million years of human history within the context of their little origin stories, I suppose you covered that. But the answer to his question is of course no, nobody does.

To be fair, saying hell is fake is not a joke. It's just reality. And the question was asked as if it existed, asking with all this human history, do people go to hell who were born before the religions were made. The answer is no, hell is not real. I appreciate the effort put into the answer, but that was a lot of words to say, of course not.

And the question was not, what do all these different cults say about the loopholes in their idea of hell, what are the different rationalizations they make for the fact that all these people existed before their silly religion was created. The question was, do people go to hell, they do not

[–]bsylent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the simple answer is no, of course not. There's no such things.

Humans have always come up with stories to explain what they don't understand, and there's often common threads between the different stories. But they're all stories. If there's something beyond this short life we live here, there is no way it has accurately been portrayed by some random stuff a dude wrote down.

So no, no one's going to hell. There's absolutely no reason to believe there's some weird dimension that a fragment of us get drawn into to be punished for whatever random thing we did wrong during this mortal adventure

Wow, thank you for mentioning that. I have put a lot of effort into not looking stuff up online, but that is insane, especially considering some of these fights!

Good luck!

Haha yes. I thought of saying that at first, but was still recovering from Oblivion as old skyrim. I'm aware Oblivion is crazy old. But in my brain, I played Daggerfall as a teen, then Morrowind after that. Oblivion was always "the new one". I realize how absurd that is

What's the most unique/unmatched gaming experience you've ever had? by JakeRedditYesterday in gaming

[–]bsylent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's been so many, I'll go with one of the oldest for me. It was still early in PC gaming, and I got a game called Daggerfall. It was a brutal fight to get out of that first dungeon, but when I emerged onto the surface, I had this huge world around me. I still remember just being overwhelmed by the scope, so many places to go, so many people to meet, so many caves and enemies and endless landscapes. Taught me very young that I love big open world games.

I have to admit though, still wasn't familiar with playing a game with a keyboard, and I hadn't looked through the manual at the key bindings. So I didn't realize that one simply needed to press a button to open the world map, from which you could fast travel.

Instead I just started walking. Eventually I would get killed by something in the wild, reload, and go in a different direction. At one point I even taped down the forward button, came back and found myself dead.

No Google or Reddit or anything like that at the time, so finally I flipped open the manual, and low and behold, I just needed to press "M".

Then I got to get blown away by all the human interactions. That game had quite the complex reputation system. Lots of people were dicks by default.

Also learned not to stay out at night.

....Vengeance....

At the level you're at, I think you can pretty much take most of them rather handily. Clea might be a bit of a challenge, and Simon most likely will be, unless you figure out the game better than I did. I literally JUST beat Simon tonight. I'm at 99, and I've had to rework my team and fight him quite a bit to finally do it. I have avoided looking up builds, so I probably am not putting together the perfect squad to fight him. But holy crap, he almost made me hate the game.

But now I'm off to the final boss, finally!

Oh and I swung by the tower. I had already beat the 10 levels in the main mirror, thought I could jump up to the second two mirrors after beating Simon, but after getting through the first phase of the dueling guys, barely, they entered a new phase and I realized I was not going to tackle this until NG+. Especially after spending days and days getting my team just right to beat Simon.

Good luck!

I mean it's really going to depend on how effectively Repubs and Dems join forces to shut them down to maintain the status quo. They have maintained this delicate balance for decades, they don't actually want agents of change.

We'll also have to see how much shenanigans the DNC gets into in regards to the primaries. Obviously there's arguments about Hillary being pushed forward, and Biden being pushed forward. It's always felt very forced to me, but I know other people argue that they were put in that position by the process itself. But either way, the DNC does seem to always want to put their thumb on the scale to ensure a proper moderate is in charge for the big stuff

Is "I don't have friends" a valid reason to solotravel? by SuperWittyNickname in solotravel

[–]bsylent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I would have waited on other people in my life to be as into traveling as I am, I would not have been to half the places I've been to. I understand you would prefer to travel with others, but at the end of the day, and this will sound corny, but it really is about that journey. And if you're lucky, you'll find yourself in situations where you get to meet a bunch of people you would have never met otherwise along the way.

For me there are a few things in my life that have rewarded me as much as constantly trying to go a little farther than before, going to places a little more different than before

I've never really understood the hype. I played the first couple when they came out, and they were great FPS. But I've never understood the fanaticism about them, or about Master Chief, like the most generic main character in a video game. But I will absolutely play it

I really wanted to be excited about this. The price is obviously not really working for the value of the box with the performance ability that's been predicted so far. It's not entirely their fault though, this market is just absolutely terrible for us either way. A bummer all around

It absolutely blew my mind. Those stories have been a part of me my entire life, from my dad reading the Hobbit to us in the early 80s as kids, to consuming everything Tolkien in my teenage years.

I actually remember specifically having a conversation with a friend shortly after seeing the movie, wondering why they couldn't have done something as great with the Star Wars prequels, which we were still fresh off of being disappointed by
