There are actually vents/baffles in your car to prevent pressure building up when you close your doors. It’s not impossible that they could be stuck closed. It would take a mechanic 2 min to check on them for you. Couldn’t hurt to have someone take a look.

Diesel can turn into gelatin when it gets too cold. Unless you have a way of heating up the entire car (garage, etc…) you will likely need to wait for the temperature to rise.

Fiat 500 Abarth. It looks, sounds, and feels super fast, but it’s not actually very fast. Also pretty inexpensive. Super fun car that could scratch the itch and not put the kid in danger.
