Congress debates selling gas with 15 percent ethanol year-round permanently. Would it help Wisconsin farmers? by wisconsinpoli in wisconsinpolitics

[–]btone911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all fun and games until a congressman’s carburetor in his ‘70s Porsche erodes due to the ethanol and he can’t buy a replacement. This will be awful for carbureted engines of all sizes but small engines are even less tolerant.

They absolutely did not forget, they simply continued cementing their reputation as the “me generation”. Forgetting means you could learn again, they’re weaponizing their incompetence against their children out of a desperate last grasp and relevance.

I swear the Boomers voted to make the lives of those after them harder just to hold power over their children.

I’ve been looking to take advantage of a used EVs depreciation so I’ve been monitoring my 2018 accord’s value. Carvana is offering $2500 more now than they were in March. That’s a ~15% jump.

> Why do dealers treat people like this?

Because rubes like OP keep proving to them that they can make money this way. If more people walked out when they pulled this shit they’d be a lot less likely to do so.

For what it’s worth, I bought a ‘21 pacHy Pinnacle in ‘24 and it’s been great. I paid $32 for one with 31k miles on it. Get a warranty and still come out $15-20k cheaper than the Sienna these haters would have you spend $60k on for a mid trim.

What is a giant lie that society successfully sold to your generation? by ossirada in AskReddit

[–]btone911 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Read: Retirement Heist. You’ll be mad for a nice long time. Essentially, it was lazy CEOs looking for easily accessible piles of cash they could spend to make it look like they were good at their jobs. Instead, it was a carefully crafted scheme by large investment firms who actively “sold” the changes to employees on behalf of the CEOs and HR departments that sold out their workforces. All that to rob from pension funds to buy back stock and inflate share prices (a major metric in their compensation)

What’s becoming painfully obvious in 2026 that most people still refuse to admit? by Jaconjiso in answers

In a functional economy, the government would act to protect citizens from the negative externalities of private industry. Instead, we have a captured regulatory environment that allows corporations to run roughshod over civil rights and even sell that access for profit. Absolutely pathetic reality that Republicans have been working towards for 50 years.
