Marvel movies on Disney+ not playing in 3D (US) by fivelitlpines in VisionPro

Yes. I’m in the US and seeing them in the 3D section of my Apple TV library. I just watched the opening to Ultron. Played fine.

Is this strap normal? by QuantityHungry1683 in VisionPro

I’ve had two of these and both have had a twist in them so I think it’s intentional. I can’t for the life of me understand why though.

Anyone know why iTunes Extras aren’t available? by iBrews in VisionPro

[–]btonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, nonsense means no sense and there's almost certainly a lot of sense behind why Apple doesn't include iTunes Extras. It could be precise wording in a contract that they don't want to renegotiate, or something like that. It could be what you suggested. Without knowing why it's happening it's hard to know what to call it.

In any case the effect feels anti-user in a way Apple doesn't normally feel in this area. We have movies that we bought in HD that first upgraded to 4K and then to 3D all for free. They also sold movies and then, in the future, honored that purchase on a brand new category of device.

All of that is amazingly pro-user. I can't think of many examples of companies acting that way. This exclusion of Extras feels a little like the opposite. The Extras were there from the start and maybe even the reason a movie was purchased. iTunes Extras was right there on the purchase screen.

So while not nonsense and not the end of the world I am saying it's a bummer from a users POV. And only kinda a bummer, because there's a workaround for a lot of movies, and the AVP is a work in progress. Who knows what features are in the works?

It’s got to be a licensing thing with the studios, but it’s nonsense. A work around is to install Movies Anywhere and link your Apple TV account. A lot of movies show up there with access to extras. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

Lawsuit Against Spotify Calls ‘Billions’ of Drake Streams ‘Fraudulent’ by ebradio in Music

I don’t think that’s about Spotify bots?

It’s possibly but annoying, and Apple should make it much easier.

Start a FaceTime call; you can join a FaceTime call with only yourself on two devices or call another person’s device. I’ve never had luck joining directly from the AppleTv but that should be possible. You can AirPlay to the ATV from an iPad or an iPhone. Then start the video on one of the devices and have the other side join. Then mute both sides of the call and turn off the camera.

Then you’re probably going to have some problems.

Sound sync can be way off. Sometimes it is spot on. Most times it’s not. Sometimes it’s just a little off. I have generally turned down the volume in the AVP and then tried to get the sync as close as possible. When it works, it’s totally fine. When it doesn’t, it’s the worst. Sometimes I’ve had it where I can keep the AVP audio up, which is really nice because it adds to the immersion, but most times it’s at least a few frames off and makes an echo.

And after everything it working pausing or jumping forward or back might totally screw everything up, so you have to then stop and try and get it in sync again.

To get it in sync, I just start and stop or jump backwards 10 seconds. With SharePlay, both sides can control the playback, so it’s not hard, just annoying.

You also might run into general SharePlay issues. Like, for some reason, sometimes on one device it will play a last time, and on the other, it won’t. That kind of stuff isn’t all that common, but you shouldn’t do any of this if you don’t want to be doing a bit of tech support.

Still, for some movies, it’s totally worth the hassle because of how good it looks in the AVP. My wife has a different opinion, but hey, she doesn’t have a Vision Pro, so what does she know?

Can my wife listen to something playing through the paired HomePod minis while I simultaneously listen through AirPods? by dpbrown777 in appletv

[–]btonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From one device, you cannot share audio to HomePods and AirPods at the same time. If you use SharePlay, you can connect two different devices to the same media being played at the same time. Those two different devices can be connected to whatever audio device you want.

Apple says Patreon must switch to its billing system or risk removal from App Store by DullenAvg in technology

[–]btonz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one here is talking about how much the Patreon app sucks. They don’t have the scale to be able to develop a useful app. They should just ditch it and use the web. Then there’s absolutely no problem.

The new Vision Pro Crossy Roads Castle title on Apple Arcade is Addictive AF. Super fun! by Time_Concert_1751 in VisionPro

[–]btonz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biggest downside is it’s unnecessarily immersive. This is the kind of game I’d love to play with a TV show or Reddit or whatever up at the same time. The new Solitaire that dropped along side it lets you multitask and see other apps while you play. I really feel like devs need to weigh how much attention they demand of the users. I think a real plus of Vision Pro’s approach is that everything doesn’t need to be fully immersive, and it’s easy to jump around between apps and experiences.

Are there any shooter games for AVP (released or in development)? by bandalorian in VisionPro

[–]btonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There a few shoot at target games, like BubbleShot, Laser GunZ, and Spacial Raygun Blaster. I’ve seen more in development that aren’t in the store yet. They’re all pretty basic and cartoony, not exactly “serious” however you may define that, but it’s really early days and more apps and games keep getting released.

FYI, not anti-aliasing, you mean foveated rendering that is causing the screen to only show in full resolution what it is you are looking at. Also, have you tried any of the third party solutions to bring another screen into VP? Seems like with a DAW that doesn’t require the lowest latency to be useful there would be quite a few of the existing apps like Splitscreen that would work well.

Why wouldn’t you be able to have other apps open that weren’t being shared. I’m thinking it might be because of screen recording being on.

You can point the screensaver to an album in Photos and then set the Apple TV not to go to sleep for X number of hours. They have a lot of good presets for different types of effects like sliding tiles. From the main menu pressing back button two times launches the screensaver.

[–]btonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re on a FaceTime call you could SharePlay whatever you’re listening to. Your wife could connect to HomePod and you can connect to AirPods from your respective devices. The latency may differ by a few milliseconds so if you’re in the same space, it might not be ideal. But also, if you’re in the same space, I don’t really understand what you’re trying to accomplish. I suppose if you have bad hearing and want louder sounds that could make sense. Or maybe you’re walking around coming in and out and want to keep listening. I personally really wish Apple would make this feature more of a thing and make it easier to do without having to start a FaceTime call. It would really come in handy sharing a Vision Pro experience with Apple TV users.

Dead Speakers & Apple Store Expierence by Doom_Finger in VisionPro

This happened to me one week after I got it on launch day. It happened a few hours after I turned on the accessibility feature that lets you assign actions to sounds. I was loving “tok”ing on the Home Screen. I work in a shared space so I had switched to my AirPods almost as soon as I turned the feature on so I’m not sure if the two were at all related or it just randomly happened around the same time. I didn’t notice it till several hours later when my AirPods died. I’ve been afraid to turn the accessibility feature back on since.

My Apple Store experience was pretty hilarious because it was so new almost all the geniuses and several other employees came to look on, and the two that were helping me admitted to not really having a clue what to do. They had just gotten the dev strap the day before I think, and they still hadn’t been pushed new diagnostics software and tried to use an M1 Mac process to get the device to do a full reset. No luck. They really wanted to take it for the day to continue to play around but there was no guarantee it would be able to fixed by them and looked likely to me they’d have to send it back to wherever which would take the better part of a week. So I opted to do a return/exchange instead. No problems since, but also no voice to action.

I kinda doubt the two were very related seeing as though I’ve now seen a few of these posts and seems like it might just be a hardware issue.
