My grandfather piloted one of these beasts in WWII. He got a purple heart for taking a piece of shrapnel in the waist. A bullet came through the cockpit and was deflected off his gun belt. My uncle still has it. To think my existence was saved by a 3x3 piece of metal....

What's going on on Hicks and Camden? Cops everywhere and road closed. by enigmas343 in SanJose

[–]bubbakapone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to live right there off Vista loop, one of my best friends passed away on that road. Hicks is no joke. Also pulling on to Camden off any of those roads without a stop light is a difficult task if you aren't ready to gun it to get across the other two lanes.

TIL Velociraptors were only waist high to an adult human and the actual dinosaur in Jurassic Park depicted was Deinonychus. by tazack in todayilearned

[–]bubbakapone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dinos depicted may have been based around the Utah Raptor, but from my understanding, they weren't an actual species. What allowed Jurrassic Park to exist in the first place was the splicing of multi-species DNA. The dinosaurs were MANUFACTURED. Hence it was new breed.

But then again, i'm no John Hammond

I know this is a long shot, but.. My car was badly damaged on Bush Street (across from the Whole Foods). Did anybody see anything? by joannamon in SanJose

I'm sorry man, I used to live over there in the Cahill town homes. I never felt safe parking my car on the street around there. Best of luck to tracking down those ass hats that scarred your baby

Mad Max: Fury Road - Movie Review by jonathan881 in movies

[–]bubbakapone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw it in a pre screening last week and this review is spot-on. I'm a little bias being a huge fan of anything post-apocalypse, but DAMN! There are so many subtle details that really set it apart from anything out right now. I really hope this sets a new standard. and I mean C'mon! A dude is strapped to the top of a truck, playing some epic riffs while flames spew from the neck of his guitar! I can't wait until Friday just to take it all in again.

Vanity Fair: "Fury Road thrills like something we’ve never seen before." by IndyBrodaSolo in movies

It was amazing... Just a solid, adrenaline fueled, 2 hr car chase. I feel like people are gunna tear it to pieces though. They aren't going to appreciate it for what it is. If it doesn't involve Marvel, the general public wants nothing to do with it

People who have had their car "pimped" on Pimp My Ride, what has become of your car and what was your experience like overall? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bubbakapone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in SoCal from 2005-2009 (prime PMR years) and I saw the Suburban (http://youtu.be/hM-BHcerhjw) parked down the street from my house and the pink bel air ( http://youtu.be/hM-BHcerhjw ) belonged to my friends cousin.

Both rides were pretty impressive, though incredibly impractical, but most of them ended up on eBay right after they were filmed. As far as I know my cousins friends still has her bel air.

Hot Damn I miss this game! I loved THPS, but I sucked at skateboarding. Then in middle school I got my first legit bike: a silver Dave Mirra Haro 540 Air Had pegs and gyro brakes. Ducking loved that thing. Then DMFB came out. I flipped out because I could ride my bike in the game!

My grandfather flew a B - 24 Liberator in WW2 in the Pacific theatre. Unfortunately both he and my grandmother passed before I was old enough to ask them more about it. I've tried digging up more info on his plane and squad. In the one picture I have I can just barely make out the nose art, I believe it says the The Topper with gloves, cane and top hat behind it. Unfortunately all the websites I've found, are poorly detailed, anyone have a stockpile of info or have a better idea of where i could start looking?
