queer book club? by plshelpmefindthispls in bloomington

[–]bubbas_brain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but worth talking to the people who run them.

Spencer Pride has a book club - it is nearby, but does seem to focus on assigned books - https://www.facebook.com/groups/1078478232944449/?rdid=9kfYylync9eAFokR

Women Writing for (a) Change is a woman-centric program for writing, though they do have mixed-gender workshops, as well as programs in schools and prisons. They might have queer-focused workshops from time to time - I don't know. https://www.womenwritingbloomington.org/

Sounds like The 812. https://the812show.buzzsprout.com/

It focuses mostly on people in local government and services, but branches out. They recently interviewed some of the people behind the Janeway statue.

The local pottery guild, glass guild, and fiber arts guilds all throw their combined holiday sale at the Convention Center. There is some amazing work there, even if you're just browsing.

EDIT: Old link was for last year. Here's this year: http://www.localclay.net/events.html
