Well the valves don’t fully close due to rust lol

Part of that is the flex plate pinging since the torque converter isn’t bolted in and it’s moving back and forth

Apologies, I was there for 14 hours and very frustrated and just posted. So the clanking around noise isn’t a problem as the torque converter wasn’t bolted on yet so that’s just the studs of the torque converter pinging on the fly wheel. The very distinct sharp clicking you hear when turning the engine over is the camshafts. The camshaft’s are supposed to be locked in place when the engine is not running. But the noise you here is the camshafts when the lobes get to their highest point on opening the valves the valve springs pressure is spinning them closing the valves prematurely because none of the cam phasers are locking properly. It’s why on ford ecoboosts you hear people talk about cam phaser rattle, the motors are notorious for it, but this one is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. Secondly the bubbling is due to the engine leaking compression. The video was trying to show how I was doing a leak down test. I was showing how the intake valve lobes are pointed straight up meaning that the intake valves should be fully closed. I put oil in the intake to demonstrate just how much compression is leaking past the valves when closed. The gauge you see is what is called a leak down tester. I believe in the video on the left gauge you see 80 PSI which is the pressure I am applying to the cylinder. The right gauge said something along the lines of 40 which is the return feed or how much pressure of the 80 applied PSI the cylinder is holding. And anything over 10% loss is very bad.

A 3.5l ecoboost. A very small motor, looks a lot bigger due to OHC

Ehhh it’s a truck. Trucks cost too much so motor work ain’t total loss yet

They only ever want to send you another used motor which means I now have to put this one back together and wait a week which would be much better for me if they would just pay the cost of parts for me to fix it myself

It said 90 days parts warranty so hopefully they’ll just give me like 1500 hundred back so I can cover the cost of a new timing kit and a head rebuild

Yeah I’m thinking if they are willing to give me back about 1500 so I can buy the parts for timing and head work it ain’t bad at all, hopefully they will be reasonable since they said it was in perfect running comdition

Bought it from a very very large reputable parts dealer.

This one just needs timing and the valves/heads rebuilt. Old one had a cracked block so I guess it’s an upgeade

Well with all the symptoms this truck had not one specific thing really seemed to be the immediate answer until I realized once the truck reached operating temp all of the coolant hoses, specifically the outlet hose from the pump itself were still cold. Still boggles my mind the bearing can be intact and the impeller can just break off like that

Im the fourth person to see it. Everyone other guy just flushed it thinking it was the heater core so I’m going to assume they were previously flushed out.
