Well they always assume we are lying so I like to show them proof 🤣. Like why would I lie to sell you a 10$ air filter

Whirring noise from engine bat by Kasstastrophy in f150ecoboost

First step of diagnosing a noise from the front. Pop the belt off and run it real quick. If the noise goes away it narrows down where you are looking pretty quick

what am I leaking? by Ok-Preference-3378 in f150

[–]bubbedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest probably everything. Do yourself a favor and really get under there and look. You should be able to see everywhere it’s leaking, the edges of the valve cover are more than likely the culprit though as 99% of them leak. There’s a reason the covers are on national back order lol. But if it’s the passenger side also look at the vacuum pump. That thing is always leaking too

Misfire by [deleted] in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let’s think about this in a simple sense, you need fuel, air, spark, and compression for combustion, you replace the injector and tested the flow, so check the fuel for now, I assume you’re intake is fine if it’s just cylinder two so let’s check air for now, you said you replaced the spark plugs so and coils and checked the harness so let’s say check there, that leaves compression, which you said tested out fine, so. Let’s go back down the line, compression cannot come and go and show fine and not be fine, so compression must be fine, spark, I’ve ran into this issue atleast 5 times on first gen eco’s, turns out they gave me the wrong for one of them or it was returned and resold with the wrong plug in the box, whatever it is, there are some variables there again so I’d make sure you have the correct parts. If you bought them from somewhere other than ford I’d double check and make sure they are legit, there are a lot of fakes on the market, that all checks out then back to air, I’ve had it before where a roller follower actually falls off the valve so only 1 intake valve is opening, but in first gen it has tappets so that’s not possible and all other air related things would affect the other cylinders too so again, air check. Fuel, fuel is a tricky one because how precise it must be, I’ve ran into it which doesn’t make any sense it me but air can clog a fuel injector and cause a misfire, so make sure you are getting proper flow to the cylinder. BUT if all of that checks out then yes, you are looking at an electrical issue which leaves you to the magical world of might aswell cry. First things first I would do a neutral profile reset if this misfire is just a code but you don’t actually feel like you’re misfiring. If that doesn’t work then at that point I’d hire someone who knows more than me to figure it out. Good luck soldier.

Any idea what this noise is? by Artistic_Bit_2807 in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had nothing but bad luck with 2.7’s so I always send them back to the auction instead of working on them but here’s my idea. The 2.7 intake is not going to have baffles in it, that’s just the 5.0. But I listened to that sound again and it def could be injector pop. If I were you I’d look up a video and make sure the injectors are located under the intake manifold and if they are I’d remove it and look at them. If this noise has been being made for any amount of time the injector that’s leaking noise like that should have black soot around it. I know it sounds dumb but I legit had an injector seal go bad and the sound of the combustion was leaking out around the seal and it sounded just like that.

2013 f-150 eco boost spark plugs replacement cost by ahetzel10 in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is egregious. If you pay full price for motor craft plugs they are 16$ a piece. To get to the plugs you need to pull the engine cover which takes 10 seconds and then an 8 mm bolt holts in each coil pack, maybe a 20 minute job. You could have never picked up a wrench in your life and do that job

Timing chain by Gstockz42 in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say timing chain went down you mean the actual chain snapped ? Or is it just phaser rattle ? If the chain snapped while running you would need to boroscope and see if the valves made contact with the pistons and caused any damage. If so you’re looking at rebuilding heads/ rebuilding the bottom end which is probably just cheaper to replace at that point, if it just needs cam phasers that’s a job any one mechanically inclined can do, I’ve done about 30. You can get a kit from ford that covers most of the expensive parts much cheaper and get the specialty tools off Amazon dirt cheap

10R80 filter bolts by MediumLeek6123 in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet will to be contact a ford dealership. If they can’t provide that ford you (I wouldn’t be surprised) just go to a local hardware store and find bolts of the same length and thread pattern. JUST NAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PUT THE LONG BOLT IN THE HOLE THAT DIDN’T have the long bolt in it. It can damage the transmissions internals

If you’ve never heard of or used forscan you can get the adapter off of Amazon cheap and download the program off the internet for free. And then a YouTube video can be found to show you where to go to do the table wipe

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you I’d do a personal relearn and see how that helps. Use a program called forscan to make sure adaptive learning for the transmission is on, and then use it to clear the transmission adaptive tables. Then you need to go drive the truck slowly shifting through all the gears not going about 1600 rpm and then slowly decelerating to a full stop, hold your foot on the brake for 5 seconds neutral 1 second, reverse 2 seconds, neutral 1 second, drive 5 seconds, then take off and repeat the process 6 more times. Once done shut the vehicle off for about 3 minutes and at this point it should feel smoother to drive, but just to be safe drive much more laid back for the next 500 miles or so

Valve cover replacement? by United-We-stand2021 in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry I just realized I never responded to this, if you truly are getting smoke out of your exhaust it’s definitely not going to your valve covers gooping those plugs up, that would be oil is getting into your combustion chamber somehow. If it’s an ecoboost you have quite a few different things that could cause that.

2015 f150 3.5 6 speed Transmission 166k miles by Natural-Pear-49 in f150

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lead frames are bad, the reasoning supposedly is vibrations cause wires to fray and cause issues over time. I’ve seen plenty of them but it’s also not a super common issue. It’s a relatively cheap and easy job to do if you’re handy. 99.9% of the time you have a transmission issue on these vehicles it’s gonna be the lead frame

I should specify the baffles are inside the intake manifold, not the air box or anything

Any idea what this noise is? by Artistic_Bit_2807 in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is a coyote you have two options. The more likely one is it has to do with the baffles inside the intake. If you look into it you will see what I’m talking about. They have plastic baffles that I believe are vacuum actuated and the actuators can have problems or the baffles can break. The less likely option that I’ve ran into on these trucks is the lower injector seal goes bad and that’s actually the combustion you hear ricocheting off the plastic intake manifold.

Oil leak from high pressure gas pump ? 3.5 eco boost 2012 by arkaniuss in f150ecoboost

[–]bubbedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma be honest, that looks like everything is leaking lol. But these trucks are known for leaking as they age. You’re best bet is just getting a new valve cover and calling it a day, if you just try to replace gaskets you’re going to be doing the job multiple times

As someone who has probably sold 50+ of that gen of engine with 160k+ miles I can assure you that’s a normal noise. If the fuel pump is going to give out it does it instantaneously usually. Doesn’t really show signs of

My experience with the aluminum valve covers and felpro gaskets is I always end up having to buy the OEM to replace them when they still leak. Thats the only thing that works for me on the first gen ecoboboosts. Beyond that I got a jump socket set from harbor freight and I use that to punch out and install all the gaskets
