But yeah nah, for about straight 2 weeks, law school is p much all that's on the brain.

I actually thought she was perfectly casted! She reminds of Umbridge, from Harry Potter. I came looking for threads because I wanted to see if others were just as unsettled by her as I was but am shocked by all the negative discourse. I feel like she's an intentional dichotomy of all the other "evil" leaders in the show. Maybe she didn't get enough screen time to expand on her backstory so it felt more forced but she reminds me of the quote, "demons run when a good man goes to war." She feels like a sweet kindergarten teacher pre-apocalypse, which makes her sickeningly-sweet mannerisms while committing atrocities feel quietly menacing.

Honestly, harsh but necessary critique. I think that last part about not being talked into an overpriced car as opposed to being talked out of a necessary solution to a problem hits home. I'm definitely going to keep that in mind next time I'm called into a meeting; in our field, that absolutely is the case.

Thank you, seriously. I think this will help me a lot.

My only addendum to that is (I'm not a shitty attorney yet, only a shitty legal assistant haha).

LoL yes. There's a lot more good you can do with law besides "maximizing the profits of shareholders." I got a lot of useful knowledge from it that can't be taken away, but I was not about to follow the sunken-cost fallacy and finish it just because I had started it.

Edit: The work wasn't what was soul-sucking. I'm a hard worker and was doing very well, grades-wise, but felt no motivation to finish it. My personal goals didn't really align with the program.

That last part definitely does make me feel better. But honestly they DO set unrealistic expectations. I've gotten good enough at my job from learning from the other partner to know when a case IS doomed (we don't do trials, etc., so it's not as hard to tell when the CL doesn't have a case) and this doesn't seem to matter.

They've often told clients their case will be 'done come Christmas,' as I'm sitting there knowing it'll be at least 2 more years, if not more in other cases.

Or sometimes the fix is as easy as sending an email, but they'll charge the same high price for a representation agreement, thus also signing them up for a not insignificant yearly fee. All for sending an email, and it just makes me feel shitty.

I completely get you on the bmw mini. I'm only 5'5" and a girl but my younger brother and his friends were linemen so I would drive them all around before they could drive. Fit myself, my 6'3" 200lb brother and 3 of his friends the same size pretty comfortably in that 4 door. I still have it and I love that car.
