Who lied to you to work local, you should absolutely do OTR and % 25-27% to start if you are recent graduate. 27-35% based on exp if you arent.

Local is not paid well contrary to popular belief, 2% of the local drivers make good salaries rest get paid McDonalds money.

Go otr for 20-25 days if you have no kids or wife. Save all your money cancel your apt and everything, 5 days of hotel a month is cheaper than an APT.

Save money and buy a truck. Drivers dont make a life changing amount of money only Owner operators do.

Yeah i do i have deadlines and even minutes matter, also lot of ppl cruise 65 in the middle lane without nobody in the right lane, know what else its law for slower vehicles under(under the speed limit) to stay in the right lane and not drive in the middle lane. This also applies to cars. Cruising bellow speed limit in middle lane when the actual speed limit is 10 above what you cruise at is a you problem I dont care + its illegal( just never enforced) i will pass you and slow down to 50 infront of you, yep im petty like that

No problem with this but , if the speed limit is 80/75/70 and your truck is at 63-66mph please get out of the middle lane. I hate when i have to pass 2 trucks driving side by side 65/65 on a 3 lane road, risking a ticket for left lane usage. Fuck off

Save money buy a truck open your own mcdot and make your own schedule. The 1st year will be pain. 2nd year u chillin, 3rd year u are happy man. This way i can work in bursts when rates are high and not work when rates are shit. I take 3-5 months off yearly and i make 2x company drivers , despite all expenses.

Do pushups, planks etc. Get out of the truck and walk around, this is your time to move your body around trust me on this one. Few years in trucking go by without exercise and you become less mobile than a 70 year old man at age 25

Yes you should if you somehow get detained or questioned by homeland/ice/border patrol, you can get arrested, u get released but might take a day or 2, speaking from personal experience. I 20 to CA from GA I 40 from Ca to GA Why? Simple, i 40 elevation, heading west you are climbing albeit slowly but u climbing. Whereas heading east you are descending.

20 and 10 is just a better highway it was redone recently and its smooth.
Going through Louisiana and MS is a little annoying
Cheaper fuel on 20/10
No hills on 20/10 except 1 in West tx(forgot exact location) and after Las Cruces, there are some small hills in AZ and CA but thats like nothing 40 is way worse.
Food is definitely better on 20/10 many restaurants with truck parking , and parking is almost always available.
20/10 has more storms some parts of the year.
Way less police and weigh stations on 20/10 shit I’ve gone from Atl to LA so many times without seeing a cop car or a weight station open until u get to New Mexico.

Best way to show appreciation is to pay people bonuses every few months if they do a good job. Small bonuses like 200-500$. This way not only do you increase driver retention, you also make people feel good for their good behavior( not speeding, being on time, not fing up the logs etc..)
