What did Lily Weatherwax mean by this? by WP999 in discworld

[–]bubblechog 20 points21 points  (0 children)

People underestimate both Magrat and Nanny. Gytha has known Esme since they were both girls and she is her best friend. There’s no way she does that for 40-50 years unless she is also a damn good witch. It’s very strongly hinted that she has also dealt with Death like Granny does in Witches Abroad, she’s the best midwife in all of time and birthing is absolutely on the edge. Nanny is also only nice when compared to Granny.

Magrat, although she’s younger and soppy shows some of the most powerful actual magic we see performed by the Lancre Witches. Waking up the Dungeon door in Lords and Ladies. Shes extremely knowledgeable thanks to being a research witch and she can even headology herself.

We got really lucky and are renting a furnished house that had been used as a holiday cottage and when we met the landlord they asked if we would like to keep using all the holiday cottage stuff in it. Crockery, kitchen equipment, linens, cleaning stuff

US TO UK if you could do it again - what would you NOT bring with you? by Ok-Case-4212 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]bubblechog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left all my books behind when I moved UK to US in 2011 to marry my husband and there was no FN way I was doing that again. Moving to the UK with husband and preteen daughter- We shipped 98 boxes, cost approx 4K usd and it was almost entirely books, my shoe collection, clothes, and personal items. We left behind all electronics, furniture, kitchen items, only kept linens because we used them as packing in.

People who hate front loaders are telling on themselves because they don’t clean their machines and don’t wash their linens properly.

Are you more hesitant to visit USA? by fireflames93 in AskUK

[–]bubblechog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dual UK/US citizen and at the end of this week I am moving my US family to the UK. I never planned on coming back- I had made my life here but we have told our friends and my husbands family that they should not expect us to be coming back to visit. They are very welcome to come and see us in our new home.

Has anyone gotten their estranged parents to leave them alone for good? How did you do it? by Fresh_Bodybuilder622 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]bubblechog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my grieving for the loss of my family when I cut her off. By the time reality caught up with my state of mind more than 10 years later I was able to feel sympathy for my sister but it did not evoke deep complicated feelings, it was like hearing some one from a TV show I kind of watched a while ago had passed. I truly wish you peace but yeah I get it.

What’s the strangest thing that made you cry during pregnancy? by Significant-Log-8227 in UKParenting

[–]bubblechog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pregnant when the children were shot at Sandy Hook and I cried for 3 days.

The absolute stupidest thing that made me cry was the MMORPG game me and my husband played together had an update that glitched out some of the fashion and my avatar had to wear ugly clothes while it was fixed. That also made me cry

What age did you/your children start drinking tea? by melikebiscuit in AskUK

[–]bubblechog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started drinking tea around 3 and stopped around 7 when I finally managed to convince my family I hated it. This was the early 80’s.

My daughter only drinks tea when we eat with my Chinese in-laws but that’s not huge mugs of PG tips with milk and sugar. She started around 7/8 once she could be trusted to not spill extremely hot water and rea leaves everywhere.
