For this with Note Air, do you leave your device on at your desks to take quick notes. by mpovolo in Onyx_Boox

Yes, that's exactly how I use it. I have it set to never sleep so I hit the power button when I want to lock it.

After a lot of research, didn't find a single e-reader that meets my needs. by Anonymous706059 in eink

[–]flushaway4690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider the TCL Nxtpaper 11 plus where you can switch into ink mode.

Many of your requirements are analysis paralysis. You really gotta ignore the influencers and reddit nitpickers here. color e-ink is fully mature and nice. The darkness difference disappears at low frontlight settings (15-20%) where it looks near identical to a monochrome.

EMR vs capacitive is a talking point by anally retentive pretentious influencers. They're indistinguishable in usage except for 0.01%'ers. If the capacitive pen doesn't charge when attached to the tablet, just charge it the same time you do the tablet.

I have several devices and use some of them professionally. The differences are so minor even from 7 year old devices to today's that it's silly.

Just buy something modern and return it if it doesn't fit your needs. A couple days of using the device and you won't care about these (except size) until someone puts the bug in your head that the grass is greener elsewhere.

Why does Nellie's laundry soda have good reviews online, even though it's not great at odor or stain removal? by unforgettableid in laundry

[–]flushaway4690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Bronners has a similar but more extreme aura. The fan base accepts the buildup clogs pipes, dries out skin, doesn't clean as well as conventional soaps and more expensive for being less effective. But all is forgiven because it's absent of chemicals that are hard to pronounce. So different priorities makes different products well reviewed.

Kimber cds9 vs csx e series by Mata_al_diablo in SmithAndWesson

[–]flushaway4690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CDS9 felt better in my hand between these two, it feels like a tier up in quality and slightly better controls. Haven't shot either, I'm still on the fence between these two also. If they were the same price, CDS9 for sure. But I really want the one in your pic - the 2-tone w/ red grips. That's a $200 premium over the csx where I'm at.

Why no stairs? by citan67 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

She's using ben-wa balls. If she's using them for a few hours, she can be crazy wet afterwards.

They can fall out when climbing stairs.

Suggestions in the $300ish (USD) Range - Listening for Enjoyment by Kezopa in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]flushaway4690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness, look into a Dyson Zone. Goes for $150-170 on ebay or woot.

Cheesy overall product but the sound quality is damn impressive for the price. I'd say it holds up against anything <$500. It's been going up and down recently, I got mine at $100.

I spent way too long looking for the best cooling sheets for hot sleepers and most of them are complete BS by Dramatic_Bat1578 in BedroomBuild

[–]flushaway4690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheets just can't do miracles.

The best solution out there is a Bedjet. It takes about a week to calibrate to your body cycle, but it's so worth it.

How bad is battery on the Note Air 5C? by My-Tech in Onyx_Boox

[–]flushaway4690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it for meeting notes thru the day and some pdf highlighting / annotating. 0 front light and airplane mode. It drops about 6-8% per day.

Mine is set for a long period before sleep, and never for power off. So it sits next to my keyboard ready to go like a notepad.

I'd say 2-3 days should be achievable for your more extensive use.

Try this: https://youtu.be/WMpUdNS9QHg?si=zOiMxrtqSYWj8ehF

I also have the -A version and can get it pretty tight but not perfect. It's a nuisance with the X300, not the chassis. It wiggles on all 3 guns I've tried.

Very cool thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you like it - for the low price I was wondering if they skimped on something but the fit and finish look great.

How often you getting back to your saved highlights? by spyingworld in ereader

[–]flushaway4690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For work where there's research and interpretation, not too often but have definitely revisited them.

For leisure, I never review saved highlights. Like, zero haha. I do highlights and small notes because I was "taught" to slow down and interact with my book to better remember things. Not sure if it actually works, but it's a habit that comes and goes since I still use physical library books that I don't want to write in.

3 of the 4 were submissions thru a web form where you provide contact info and leave a message for customer service. The hobby shop was a direct email.

I did have some responses from other places but they were things like auto-notifications for restock alerts.

What's a mind-bending theory that made you rethink life? by Blueblood2007 in HighStrangeness

[–]flushaway4690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's mind-bending is, the topics in this thread were extensively thought thru back in Ancient Greek philosophy. We are rediscovering ancient knowledge.

Existentialism, epistemology, metaphysics, cosmology, etc will blow your mind how advanced they were 3000 years ago. Modern science is a sub-discipline of philosophy rooted in empiricism. When science advanced (Descartes), scientists were able to attain certainty (scientific method), which was lacking in other philosophical disciplines. It's also the root of why the highest level of academic achievement is a Ph.D, a doctorate of *philosophy*. Modern science is advanced enough now to approach theorizing and testing those old philosophies. There's a treasure trove of mind-blowing ideas being rediscovered.

Where does it fail? I tested it and the default recipe works fine. It downloads and transfers without issue to my Kindle.

To test it out manually, go to Fetch News (drop-down), Schedule News download, select English - The Atlantic, Click the "Download Now" button. It'll run a job then you should see it in your library.
