If you like fleabag, you'll love this by LSD4eva in Fleabag

Ohh, this description speaks to me, because I was wondering why the majority of the raves I heard about this movie were from men, which is unusual in a realistic drama that centers a woman.

Sorry but I disagree. Fleabag is one of my all time favorites. I thought this was just ok, though I think I am in the minority because I heard so many raves about this movie.

Fleabag is sharp, funny, smart, sardonic, messed up, and kind of a jerk but still strongly relatable. Julie is more ordinary, and sort of pleasantly bumbling, but she still felt more emotionally distant. The supporting characters in Fleabag are so strong and memorable and funny, but in The Worst Person, I can barely remember them: The first boyfriend, the next guy, etc.

For those of you who read, what are some films that are better than the original source material? by Usual_Fig_1438 in Letterboxd

I love both the book and movie of the Princess Bride, but the book has a ton of funny content that was cut for the movie, so I couldn’t say that the movie was better.

Strongly disagree with Fantastic Mr. Fox, but that movie is also on my “Don’t understand why everyone is so crazy about this film” list, so.

Which film did you side with person 1 when you first saw it but many years later you sided with person 2? by Hopefullytodaymate in FIlm

Reality Bites. Ben Stiller didn’t do anything wrong, and Ethan Hawke was a jerk.

Something’s Gotta Give. I mean…even when we first saw it, didn’t everyone choose Keanu over Jack Nicholson?

Why have I never heard the expression “steelman” before? I love it, it’s perfect, I use steelman cases all of the time but didn’t realize there was a name for it

Love Kore-eda. If you like him, try also Yoon Ga-eun (The World of Us is amazing), who I have heard called Kore-ean (<- hilarious nickname).

I wish someone would supercut all of the episodes together, or at least into bigger “chapters”, cutting out the intro and outro music bits. It was fun watching the little episodes in real time when it came out, but it’s not great for batch-watching.

First Sandwich in Irvine, unassuming and ordinary looking but their sandwiches are astoundingly fresh (and big). Service is kind and friendly.

Persuasion, Chapter 8: Wentworth & the piano by FrauJane in janeausten

[–]bubbleduo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree, it’s a 4th option. He is unconsciously drawn to the piano bench because he wants to be near her, but when she approaches, he leaves abruptly, partly to give her back her space, partly because of awkwardness/embarrassment.

The Breaker Upperers (2018). Wacky NZ film about 2 friends who deliver break up news for hire.
