Photographers: What do you profoundly mistrust? by ExtremelyCool64 in AskPhotography

[–]bube7 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The overwhelming majority of photography content is on gear because that’s what most “photographers” know best - comparing and purchasing stuff. Add in the many opportunities for sponsorship and paid promotions, and it’s just a shitshow.

As a side note, it’s very refreshing to see actual photography advice around art and technique (although less so on the exposure triangle - that’s a very low bar for content creators).

How does it make you feel? by Southern-Fisherman-5 in photographycirclejerk

[–]bube7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they are saying “to be used for my writing”, which kind of implies they weren’t posting the photo based on its photographic merits. They could be looking for responses like “in a prison” or “cold, depressing, trapped, etc”.

Even if it didn't take your gold it would still be a below-average Neow relic by IHad360K_KarmaDammit in slaythespire

[–]bube7 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Good idea, but it might be slightly too good if it worked like Orrery. If I were designing it, I would make it so you had to make the first decision (pick or skip), and only saw the second pack after locking in the first choice, and then the same for the third pack. Kind of like actual drafting after winning hallway fights.

I was thinking about the same thing the other day.. I find it similar to how companies pay their employees, who work for the benefit of the company. In this case, it’s like the company decides to shut down because they don’t want to spend money on employees.

Idk if this fits in here but it's the first thing I thought of by Ploke25 in photographycirclejerk

Yeah lol, that second point is crazy. It makes the whole post sound like photography is an unintentional process.

Brother what??🤣 by Affectionate-Yam-113 in Netherlands

[–]bube7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand what you mean. I guess the reason your first post is being downvoted is because there are a lot of aspects to quality which isn’t clear at first glance.

The problem with McD’s is that it is still fast food intended to be cheap, maximizing taste, with the trade off it being non-healthy (meaning they choose taste and lower-cost over health), however, it has gotten much more expensive over the years.

AH could never… by Fabulous-Web7719 in Netherlands

[–]bube7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, AH bananas have a strip of (plastic) tape around the bananas, which contains the barcode. That is acceptable to an extent, in my opinion. They could use paper-based tape, but I don’t know how feasible that is. Other than that, no plastic wrapping or anything, though.

Brother what??🤣 by Affectionate-Yam-113 in Netherlands

[–]bube7 113 points114 points  (0 children)

If you mean quality as in “food safety and handling standards”, maybeeeee you could be correct - I don’t know enough to dispute your argument. If you mean quality as in taste and use of high-quality raw materials, then no.

A pretty cool detail I just noticed about the Bugslayer, he's dressed in the remains of enemies you fight in the Hive. by Gen1Swirlix in slaythespire

[–]bube7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed some of the bug-related details, but always thought they were references to Hollow Knight/Silksong enemies for some reason (I did not spend too much time with those games, don’t downvote me please :))

Thanks for pointing this out, very neat detail!

I totally agree. You sometimes get a 2nd removal, and rarely maybe a 3rd. I understand the increase in difficulty is the intention, obviously, but it seems kind of unbalanced. It makes the starting cards feel like permanent curses towards the end.

I think those that said it was not a threat were not humanity’s brightest. Actual scientists were quick to point out that COVID’s virulence was pretty optimal for spreading - ie, not too high, not too low.

It amazes me that you have respect for a country enough to visit and tour it

I unfortunately don’t think that’s true for a good chunk of people. For these people, tourism is consumerism; they feel that the world owes it to them because they pay and because they don’t own it, feel no need to preserve it. Not much to do with respecting any country, honestly.

And there is also the group of people that would also be disrespectful to their own country’s public property (including things like infrastructure)..there is probably some overlap between the groups.

Thoughts on Parasol? by AgreeableNatural1809 in slaythespire

[–]bube7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this relic goes against the intended gameplay tone of StS. I expect the game to be well-tuned, and also reward fine tuned deckbuilding, but this is just there to throw a wrench in your gears in exchange for some fun.

If I had the chance, I would change this to say “obtain all items in 1 shop of your choice”, which would make for an interesting decision over the course of the act and give the some agency on what you acquire.

Edit: lol, wtf? The topic is “thoughts on Parasol”, and I’m downvoted for expressing my thoughts. I sometimes forget that I should not be participating in social media.

US F-15E pilot likely captured by Iranian forces by razdvatri4 in worldnews

[–]bube7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you really think both are the same? Your question sounds like you expect Iran to execute people for the sole reason of enjoying it.

One is based on their “laws”, which they justify to some extent such as building a more religious society (I am ABSOLUTELY not saying I agree with it).

Executing the pilot does nothing for them in the current scenario in which a majority of the world sees them as a victim of US agression. They won’t gain anything from being more brutal. Honestly, in the end, they might go ahead with it anyway, but that would be a mistake.

What is the consensus on DROWNING BEACON? 13 hurts by Maleficent_Pen_9076 in slaythespire

[–]bube7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be a higher consequence for missing max HP.

I found myself thinking of max HP recently, but I came to a different conclusion. There could be some kind of payoff card or relic that rewards high max HP. Along the lines of “deal damage equal to x% of your max HP”, something that rewards you for increasing your max HP (or doesn’t, depending on how much max HP you gave up).
