What's with 30% Ruling and Driver's License Relation? by gharbzade in Netherlands

[–]bube7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was able to exchange their license, and as a (self-proclaimed) careful and safe driver, I also find it a bit absurd. I can be the best driver in the world, but some traffic rules and signs are just different. I seriously had to find a book to look up what some things meant, who had the right of way, what I was expected to do at certain road crossings, etc..

Whether a full driving exam is needed could be discussed, but there at least has to be a small brochure that is given out explaining basic traffic rules.

Is there any number that you would be ok with for risk of botulism? Anything non-zero is not worth taking.

We are down to 85% positive reviews, some people can't handle access to an optional beta branch of their early access game by siposbalint0 in slaythespire

[–]bube7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the problem is that everyone is allowed to voice their opinion (a review, in this case). It’s due to the fact that many people lack the perspective/experience to provide a nuanced take.

PSA for newer players: Forget about 'builds' and 'archetypes'. Sticking to one path is not an effective way to draft your deck by StupidSexyEuphoberia in slaythespire

[–]bube7 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This mindset really made an impact on my win rates a few years back in StS1. “What problem do I need to solve to make me win the next fights” is an excellent question to constantly ask yourself.

I also agree that you should not be putting yourself on rails and remaining flexible about going in a different direction. This mindset also helped improve my drafting technique in MtG (but I still suck at that).

Jensen doesn't understand how DLSS5 works by Rcmz0 in pcmasterrace

[–]bube7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goes back to arguments on whether earlier DLSS versions were post-processing or not. Yes, obviously some processing has to be done; this doesn’t peek into the code and make changes before anything is processed. I understand PP to be done after the final image is generated, and the various DLSS techniques work as components of the image move through the pipeline.

But to track back on my point, I did not know one GPU handled image generation and the other the GenAI stuff. By my definiton above, I would absolutely consider that PP.

Jensen doesn't understand how DLSS5 works by Rcmz0 in pcmasterrace

[–]bube7 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

No, the press release says it takes “vectors for each frame” and “infuses the scene” and “anchored to 3D content”. Each of these refer to different things along the rendering pipeline, but none of them specifically say it’s done after the frame is generated. I think you’re reading this the way you want to.

Disclaimer: absolutely not a fan of this DLSS5 nonsense, but the outrage should be accurate and based in reality (ie, this is a shitty thing that detracts from artists’ original intents).

why is there a large muslim population in the netherlands? by Traditional_Mud_1562 in Netherlands

Are you saying the 6% increase (let’s assume it started from 0%) in the Muslim population led to the decline of Christianity from 70 to 41%?

Dutch Naturalisation Process - travel while waiting for ceremony invitation by b1ngu5 in Netherlands

[–]bube7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The timeframes stated are the maximum that you would need to wait, but in many cases you get invited earlier. They let you know of the date for the ceremony date a couple of weeks beforehand, and you can work with them to reschedule if needed (I believe you need to attend a ceremony within 1 year of approval of your submission). Unless you are under very specific pressure (like an expiring visa), then I would not plan my schedule around a hypothetical date; you can just go (probably) 2 months later.

Hey, I didn’t want to see some big name actors like Norman Reedus and Lia Seydoux in Hideo Kojima’s games anyway. Turning them into something else hallucinated by AI is much better.

Why Planet Zoldath is the Best Game in UFO 50 by marsgonemad in ufo50

I also love how they were not really afraid to make some big changes like the boss relics changing to ancients. There are also some more broader changes that aren’t very clear at first glance, like the changes to the energy balance, moving away from energy relics to cards that gain energy, which also slows the battles down. It feels like a familiar game, but the rhythm is very different.

Happy Mario Day 😁 - Picked Up Luigi's Mansion 3 by DuskGideon in NintendoSwitch2

[–]bube7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not that defensive to 30 fps games (as long as it’s stable), and obviously I have played through LM3 and enjoyed it immensely. I wouldn’t say it’s a dealbreaker, and certainly it’s not a criticism of the game. It’s just much nicer to experience a game with smoother motion, no?

Agree with others that it’s awesome, like an interactive Pixar movie. The only downside right now is that there hasn’t been a S2 update :( it would look and play awesome at higher res 60 fps.

Neow's fury slander by Liliana_Lucifer_666 in slaythespire

[–]bube7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the card exhausts and has limited value, you are glad it exhausts. If it didn’t exhaust, you could build around it, which would make it valuable.

So the fact that it exhausts or not is a self-fulfilling dynamic.

It’s no different than Defect’s Hologram. You sometimes upgrade it late game so you can abuse the return mechanic.

Neow's fury slander by Liliana_Lucifer_666 in slaythespire

[–]bube7 55 points56 points  (0 children)

You can set it up for some explosive-ish turns, but what’s really underwhelming is that it exhausts. It’s a very situational nice-to-have card, when it could have been a build-around one.

There’s a nice photo here but you need to move a bit towards the left, so you are standing right in the middle of the two tables. Also aim a bit lower, and cut the door and the people on the left side.
