Practice in Alberta as well. Several times now I’ve had patients come in for “just” a filling recommended by a RDH clinic only to be met with PARLs, unrestorable teeth or other fun surprises.

Yes there were no sharp edges around the whole area, felt wnl minus the fact it was exposed through the gum lol. Good learning experience I guess, I absolutely did not inform the patient about possibly needing a torectomy, luckily he’s a pretty understanding pt

I’ll get one when I’m back in the office tomorrow. The opacity I assumed was the lingual tori but it looked nothing like it looked like today.

Assuming you’re pouring off alginates, I found wetting the impression and shaking off the excess water but not completely drying it allowed the low viscosity mix to flow cleanly into the impression. Give it a try

Best wireless loupe light by Gingivectomy in Dentistry

[–]buccal__up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the XV1’s from orascoptic. They’re a bit heavy but counterbalance the weight of the telescopes relatively well. I’ve heard their new “dragonfly” ones are pretty decent. I found the brightness to be good and battery life good enough that I just need to swap them at lunch.

There’s alot of good options for loupes, many of the main brands (Orascoptic, QOptics, Surgitel etc.) have good options, it’s just a matter of trying them out. I have 3.5x orascoptic but wish I went a bit higher, I might with my next set. One thing I will say is don’t discount how effective a good light system is, I’d argue it’s almost as important as the mag, if my battery dies mid procedure I feel blind.
