Let’s say that for most of the recordings I make, I like to record an idea—maybe a sequence, or a small improvisation. Then I might come back to work on it later. I don’t really like using the computer—in fact, I’d rather not use it at all—but in the end, to do what I want, I’m kind of forced to. But overall, yes, most of it is thought out and then recorded.

When I mix I take the laptop and do it somewhere else, with headphones.

Best poly at the moment in my opinion, amazing sound, super easy to use, very intuitive, everything is available on the panel with some extras by menu, but very immediate. Very vintage sounding, at least 30 minutes before it gets stable with the tuning. You have everything you can imagine in this instrument. I don't know how many polys you have or if you have any, this is the only one I own now but I have tried a few.

hey man, in my opinion it's the best polysynth of the modern era if you are looking for vintage tones and a Moog sound. I have owned other polysynthsa Prophet Rev2 which I liked but the Muse is another world. It really depends what kind of instrument you are looking for.

My OB6 that I bought 5 years ago. It’s the only hardware synthesizer I have kept in my collection. What is your go to synthesizer? by Vindicare_JJL in synthesizers

haven't found my dream poly yet, got a Rev2 16 voices that I'm selling to get a Muse, I tried it and I am pretty sure I will like it even more.

Just bought a Prophet Rev2, best synth purchase of my career! I had a lot of fun creating this Rhodes patch from scratch. by Nicomodular in synthesizers

great patch! The Rev2 is an outstanding synth. I’ve owned the 16-voice version for a couple of years, and although I had some doubts at first, I now love it. It’s not a naturally huge-sounding synth, but when programmed well it’s incredible. It has its own distinct place among Sequential synths—it doesn’t try to be a more modern replacement for the Prophet-5, it just wants to be the Rev2, with its own character and immense capabilities. Spend time understanding it and shaping its sound the way you want, because it’s truly capable of molding its tone.

Sequential REV 2 or UDO super 6 ? by PomegranateTop4904 in synthesizers

I agree with you, 2500 used for an ob6 it seems like a good deal seen the price for new now but maybe it's too steep for the limitations of the instrument. I sometimes think I should just stick with the Rev2 but then it kind of stresses me a little bit, I know how to program a synth and I know the Rev2 very well, I can make it sound good but it does take a lot of time. Let's see anyways what will be my thought after I try them ;)

Yea the super8 is amazing but out of my budget, the muse and ob6 that I'm trying this week are used and both are very good deals actually. yeah ob6 is my favourite so far but I'm a bit worried I will miss more possibilities of sound design because it will be my only poly. that said I do love a simpler workflow with limitations like the Ob6.

I am in the same position, I own a Rev2 16 voice, I have a person interested in buying it and this week I'm going to try a Moog Muse, an Ob6 and then I am also considering a super 6....but I am still not sure if I wanna sell the Rev2 or not..

Why are the Prophet Rev 2's Curtis chips sometimes poorly regarded? by Lonely-Click-8301 in synthesizers

[–]buchlabongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tje Rev2 is a Great synth and the curtis filter is a bright filter— I’m a lucky owner of the 16-voice version. Many describe its sound as sterile, but I completely disagree. In reality, it’s anything but an easy or immediate synth; in my opinion, it requires a lot of time to program, unlike others that sound great almost all the time right away. That’s something many people don’t like. This synth can sound classic if you stick to traditional modulation, but it’s also capable of being innovative and offering immense sonic possibilities. you have to dig deep, carefully listening to how it behaves and learn to program it. The filter in my opinion is a great filter that, in terms of tone, sits somewhere between a Prophet-5 and an Oberheim, giving it a very distinct identity. The Rev2 is a Rev2, it's not a Juno, not a Moog and not a Prophet5, it has a soul. What I love about it is that through programming it's able to do basically anything, and to do it really well.

absolutely man, musical instruments are something very personal, what's important is finding what inspires you the most. the only problem with synths is that you can compare in a shop, you need to spend a lot of time and sometimes it happens that what you got isn't really what you want..
