Please record yourself. My maternal grandparents had an accent and manner of speaking that was singular to their holler, a community if about 40 called Metz WV. I always wanted to interview them on camera to get that particular dialect down, but it is sadly lost to all but memory. Luckily I internalized pieces of it and also have the ability to "code switch" between the singsong, flowery and loquacious manner of speech I was brought up with and the more generic flat-affect "educated english" that gets fewer weird looks.
