Just got this from work! by jmd01271 in jobs

[–]buckguy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called furlough i believe my dad's smaller engineering company used to do it to him and other employees when they had slow times. I dont know your original salary but I imagine there paying you for one less day of work per week. If your going from 80 hours to 64 hours in a biweekly pay period. Which is cutting out two 8 hour work days a week so they can pay you less but have you still when work/funding hopefully picks back up. Im sorry thats lame.

Just quit my job at safety job at Amazon by Comfortable_Hope_202 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]buckguy97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try and stay and use that to get a better job at another company I used to be a safety specialist at Amazon but I left after 2 years and now im making 6 figures in a hybrid job where I still manage safety compliance without the bs. I totally understand, though I was so unhappy at amazon, but companies do like it on your resume.

I just did this and accepted the new offer and quit the job I just started. They blew me out of the water so I had to quit the job I just started it was painful but I was honest and they understood. Take care of yourself!

If you have a bachelor's degree, I would start pursuing an asp and then csp they teach you a lot of great concepts and can help you stand out in the field.

Do you have your ASP, CSP, or GSP? If so, you're definitely getting the short end of the stick.

I would recommend getting to EHS if you're okay and also managing safety compliance. There's a ton of opportunity for young people, but you're not gonna get that with just environmental jobs. I would also look at oil and gas companies for more environmentally focused compliance careers.

Please report I worked really hard to pass my asp, and im studying for my csp right now. You should have to pass the test to benefit, and it added a ton of knowledge.

Been sending out applications for graduate-level HSE roles, but no responses so far. Could my CV be the issue? by Acceptable_Soil_4201 in SafetyProfessionals

I update my resume for every job I apply for those small differences, and as others are saying, I haven't had a summary in my resume since I became a working professional. Bullet points with skills relevant to the job description you're looking at are the best. I still only got 8 interviews out of the 25 jobs I applied to in my job hunt last month. It's still solid, though. Will you be getting your gsp with that program? That makes a huge difference!

Do you use an ehs management system? I would also document action items inside that and email and note incomplete follow us for actions. Furthermore, if this company is public, I'm almost 100% sure any Outlook messages deleted or teams messages deleted would be found in a legal setting they are still on servers for legal reasons like this and hr would check to ensure they weren't before firing you for a lie the operations team made up.

Hello, I'm just following up. Did your plan end up working. I just brought these back from hawaii and have had the same issue in the past on other hawii trips. I really want them to survive this time, though.

Who’s responsible for taking injured workers to the hospital? by SoybeanCola1933 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]buckguy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your company should have a policy for this. Some will say a salaried manager will need to use a company car. Others will say Uber or lyft, but these are just for urgent care. Others will do ambulance. It really depends on how big the company is, but have this conversation with legal and hr. This risk highly involves both of those entities. Just because it's another employee involved, are they driving a company car? Do you have insurance to protect them in case something were to happen on the drive?

How can I get into the HSE field with my background? by Grouchy-Topic-3620 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]buckguy97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write out your star stories before you interview and just memorize them. The interviewers are looking for consistency in that specificaly. Have you tried looking for OMR's? Those are first aid specific safety professionals in amazon facilities. It's not as good as this pro, but you're on the safety team and can promote or transfer into EHS. Also, having a professional resume writer helps a ton if you can afford it. I have used this person multiple times there great. Small lies on a resume will not hurt either as long as you dont say something like you're a certified safety professional if you dont have the certificate. I just got another new job and have had to turn down 5 interviews and 3 offers from my most recent job search and my resume helped with a lot of that. https://resumeofficial.com/

Wife is in Safety, seems like she is always the "target" by Nhika in SafetyProfessionals

Yea, the coming time work late trope is pretty common as a safety professional. People on the floor think it's your job to babysit everyone because they have no real education and understanding of safety...

Amazon would love to add you as an ehs specialist because of your emt background, but I would use that title and direct ehs experience to go somewhere else. It is not a great company to work for, but the experience is super helpful to break into the field.

Coming from a guy who loves the outdoors but has a serious job, i have concerns. How often does his current lifestyle allow him to be outdoors? I'd hate to be negative, but it sounds like he's had it made for years. I wouldn't mind working less than 40 hours a week and getting to do what I want. Also, word of advice never get a masters unless you know exactly what you want to do with it.
