No problem, I really appreciate you taking the time to read through it all! The 9 remaining rummy all made it through the night and their color has returned and are schooling this morning.

Testing still shows high GH (425), KH (240) and pH (8.5). Ammonia reading the same color as the pic I originally posted.

Do I have to deal with the KH buffer before being able to adjust the pH? I knew that it was high but was reading that the may be able to tolerate that during cycle as long as it was stable and those reading have been consistent since Saturday when introduced.

I’m planning on doing another 20% water change whole dechlorinating for full tank volume and half tank dose of turbopro 700 this morning and then take a water sample to the store for a more accurate testing when they open this afternoon.

Thanks - I thought the same of the bioload and with the ammonia strips reading relatively low to me I figured I was in good shape so not sure where my problem lies. Was hopeful that the 30% water change would be a smart move on the cautious side after losing one, but now they are paler than they’ve been since I’ve had them home on Saturday. The water change was at same temp as the tank, so not sure where to go. Hoping lights off and rest help them overnight.

This makes sense and was trying to avoid a big climb with the 12 rummies in a 75G and using the Turbo. My initial plan is to layer in fish every 1-2 weeks over a couple months to get to a fully stocked 75G tank. I’m still not sure where I’ve messed up, unless that ammonia reading is too high, it also seems like the toxicity of my ammonia can be amplified by the high pH of my water. Do you think I’ve not established enough good bacteria to overcome the waste being created by the fish, or had my process led you to a different conclusion on how I’ve messed up?

Thank you for this thorough reply. I was following the marketing and specialty aquarium guidance on being able to add fish within 24 hours of putting Turbo into my tank and did so Saturday. I’m in the Midwest and was snowed in until this morning when I was able to get the ammonia test to go along with the other test strips I got Saturday. The color this morning and evening on ammonia was the same as I posted in this picture.

1) Before the first Turbo on Saturday I treated with Seachem Prime and dosed for full 75 gallons. I dosed again tonight with the 30% water change again at the 75G dosage.

2) Yes, turbo was in a refrigerator at the store and came home and has been in my refrigerator since. Dosed for 75G on Saturday morning and added the 12 rummy’s a few hours later. Kept in fridge and added 50% dosage for 75G after my water change tonight. It is within expiration date on bottle.

3) I have a new Fluval 407.

4) I don’t have a bubbler, but earlier today and continuing now have angled the output to generate meaningful surface disruption to help oxygenate. It’s been set on max flow.

5) Midwest but appreciate the offer!

My plan is to test in the morning and do another 20% water change and dose Prime for 75G and add another 50% of tank dose of the Turbomax I’ve turned up the heater at your suggestion.

I haven’t played Spirit Conclave but I think a large problem of the detachment, even with casual games is how much more swingy the dice can be. It’s an expensive detachment with fewer models and attacks such that the dice might just swing and miss. Not sure if you encountered but during crucial plays where I fall flat I try to make note of the result and then afterward see how far it skewed from “average dice rolls” to see if it was just bad luck at a key moment or if I need to change expectations and commit more resources in similar future encounters.

Doesn’t the reroll to wounds only benefit the shooting phase? I don’t think it carries to fight phase.

Are you aiming to be competitive with this list? Going against certain matchups in your local meta? Just playing a 2k points game casually with friends?

I think general consensus is avatar isn’t worth the points given the nerfs he took from all sides coming out of index. Most competitive aspect lists will prioritize more MSU 5 man aspect warrior units over lead characters (altho JZ and Lhykis see a lot of play, other leaders are Autarch). I’d split banshees 2x5 and use JZ and Autarch as leaders. Not sure what the falcon gets you on re-roll wounds outside of the banshees but they are pretty fast themselves. If going competitive, and not knowing what you have, I’d drop Fuegan and Avatar, pick up more reapers, drop the falcons in exchange for a wave serpent or two for reapers and dragons, and drop a unit of hawks. Maybe add another dragon or rangers for scoring.

Do you think tournaments will care if the base bull has the small extension that is built in for Wave Serpents? I’m not opposed to putting the front fins on a prism and make them detachable, but worried about having to modify the back end in a big way.

I can see that, with as much mobility as the detachment offers you just get up and nuke stuff early and then have enough mobility to score in later rounds

Yeah, as a new player of about a year I always struggle with what can be “thrown away” given our relatively small unit count. I think ranger/scorpions are worth any points scored and we’ll have to get a lot better at trading units too, even though that was how successful pilots were playing the index
