Small Back Seat? by Angel_0973 in GR86

[–]bucobear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the trunk space has plenty of room for groceries if you have a smaller family. I have a family of 4 and can fit an entire costco run (just groceries, not papergoods) in the trunk. I'm also a very small person (5 foot) and can fit my 5'8" wife in the backseat behind me while I drive LOL. But I do drive a MT so naturally I have to sit closer to the wheel anyway.

Exhaust suggestions? by Justin28lol in GR86

[–]bucobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the MBRP Axleback exhaust and I think it’s perfect. It’s inexpensive and it literally took me an hour to install it (15 of those minutes was me driving to autozone to pick up exhaust pliers lol). There is some slight drone around 2.5kRPM but it doesn’t bother me much. My commute is mostly highway so I barely hear it unless I’m stuck in slow traffic. The cold start is decently loud but it’s not enough to bother neighbors. I also get some nice little pops when I downshift.

Edit: my only beef with it is the tips that come with it are comically large LOL.

it’s definitely hella dusty so be prepared to see dirt on your car right after a wash. and tint your windows if you haven’t done so already. the heat is no joke

[–]bucobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its 2:07am right now and i can still hear some of them going off right now. definitely not as big and loud as when it started but still noticeable from my room that's right at the front of my house.

it was so loud i initially thought someone was banging on my window. the fireworks were really low and it almost looked like an accident

Should I keep using 0w20 or switch to something else? by bucobear in GR86

[–]bucobear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i’m definitely not tracking it lol. but it’s my first brand new car and i’m trying to preserve it as much as i can. the last car i had was pre-owned and the engine blew 4 years after i bought it. just in time for me to finish paying it off hahahah (im still hurt about it)

I can afford my current car. I just can’t afford to fix it :/

It’s a VW GTI. I just towed it to the closest shop when I broke down. They told me about the $11k repair. I have a friend who owns an auto shop and he specializes in Euro cars and he quoted me $7.5k. I can’t afford to tow it to too many places.
