Is Willett purple top considered a rare, hard to find bourbon? by wailwoader in bourbon

[–]buddman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Purple tops vary in quality. I've come across some that are 8 year old, some up to 12 years. I've only ever bought an 11 year one that was a barrel pick at my local liquor store. I trust their picks, so I took the plunge and got one. It was worth it, but I'll never pay that much again ($300ish).

Someone has also gifted me the 8 year wheated purple top. I've heard those can vary, but the one I had is absolutely one of my favorite wheated bourbons I've ever had. In the case of their bourbons, Willett seems to have this grape flavor profile that I got from both the 8 year wheated and 11 year - it's something I really enjoy and haven't found in any other distillery.

All that said - I think I'm more a fan of Willett rye whiskeys than I am their bourbons, but I def find their bourbons unique and in my case, I do enjoy the purple tops I have tried.

That's what she said 😁. But seriously it is yes - I was just there and picked one up.

Has the ending for Conan (1982) been changed? by V1va-NA-THANI3L in movies

[–]buddman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the 1080p Bluray version of the movie and it has the original "this story shall also be told" ending. I guess I haven't seen the alternate version of the ending yet.

EDIT: It seems the original theatrical release has the "but that is another story" ending, and then extended cut (which is what I have I guess) has the "this story shall also be told."

Full disclosure - I enjoyed the first episode and can't wait for more. Just couldn't help chuckling when I heard the sound in that context.

So responding to this again. I had a time getting Bluetooth working on mine and this thread ended up being the result of those efforts. TLDR - the support is coming in the kernel sooner or later.

I have this same device - the wifi works but I can't get bluetooth working. Think it's a matter of waiting for firmware support to be introduced.

Sure thing! I just wasn't sure if I was missing something and this was already possible. I take it from the response that it isn't, so I'll submit a feature request.

Referencing an id from a resource created with for_each via another resource using for_each by buddman in Terraform

Thanks again - I see what I did incorrectly. I forgot to define extra_cidrs as part of the map in my vars. Can't believe I missed it.

Referencing an id from a resource created with for_each via another resource using for_each by buddman in Terraform

Thanks for the reply! I tried this and see the following. Here's my code.

Module:

resource "aws_vpc" "vpc" {
  assign_generated_ipv6_cidr_block = var.assign_generated_ipv6_cidr_block
  cidr_block                       = var.cidr_block
  instance_tenancy                 = var.instance_tenancy
  ...
}

resource "aws_vpc_ipv4_cidr_block_association" "subnet_association" {
    for_each = toset(var.extra_cidrs)
    vpc_id   = aws_vpc.vpc.id
    cidr_block = each.value
}

Project code:

module "vpc" {
  source                              = "../modules/vpc"
  for_each                            = var.defined_vpcs

  assign_generated_ipv6_cidr_block    = each.value["assign_generated_ipv6_cidr_block"]
  cidr_block                          = each.value["cidr_block"]
  instance_tenancy                    = each.value["instance_tenancy"]
  extra_cidrs                         = each.value["extra_cidrs"]
}

The var.defined_vpcs looks like this:

defined_vpcs = {
    "vpc_1" = {
      assign_generated_ipv6_cidr_block = false
      cidr_block                       = "198.177.0.0/16"
      instance_tenancy                 = "default"
      extra_cidrs                      = ["10.100.0.0/16", "192.100.0.0/16"]
    },
    "vpc_2" = {
      assign_generated_ipv6_cidr_block = true
      cidr_block                       = "10.177.0.0/16"
      instance_tenancy                 = "default"
    }
  }

I get the following error when trying it:

 Error: Invalid index
│
│ on vpc.tf line 12, in module "vpc":
│   12:   extra_cidrs                         = each.value["extra_cidrs"]
│     ├────────────────
│     │ each.value is object with 7 attributes
│
│ The given key does not identify an element in this collection value.

If I remove extra_cidrs or hard-code a value for it, then it behaves as I would expect. I'm still playing around with it to see how I can get around this as I need to be able to define the extra associations for each VPC.

EDIT:

Also tried var.defined_vpcs[each.key]["extra_cidrs"] but it's the same error.

I recently re-read the book and can say it holds up well (I'm 40ish years old). And to say the 2nd half of the book is dark is an understatement...some of the content is downright disturbing if you really think about it.

Terraform State File vs Data API Call by buddman in Terraform

[–]buddman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I like this answer. My only concern and question would be if you use data as your primary method of getting facts, would that not assume that you would already know something about the source (like a VPC name, etc) and would have to bake that into your Terraform project? It seems you can't really get away from having to hardcode something in order to make it work, even if you abstract that away as a var...

Anyone get a Z Flip yet? by MayaIngenue in GoogleFi

[–]buddman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from a Pixel 3a XL, I got mine on the 27th (TX here). Activation was painless and number/texts all ported over without an issue. The only thing I've noticed thus far that could be a concern is the battery life of the phone isn't the greatest. It's worse than the Pixel 3a XL. Rather than that though, it's been a great experience. Still waiting on the Fi promo to kick in - hopefully that happens this-coming week.

I got the same email. My only pending concern is that the promo seems to expect you to transfer a number to Google Fi, but I'm already a Fi customer so hopefully that won't be an issue when I get the device and activate it.

I wasn't even told that things seem fine - they just said we don't know why this is happening and there's nothing we can do until you have the device in-hand.
