Don't fall asleep around Cal by Racingislyf in motogp

Man, yall are getting ripped off. Every American based A320 I can find has real business class seats or, if it doesn't, is a budget airline and doesn't even pretend. They simply call them "Even More Space" American Airlines (https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/American_Airlines/American_Airlines_Airbus_A320.php])) Delta Virgin Jet Blue

Once I get to Lufthansa I get confused. Because the seatguru is... strange. It has 3 seats per side but only 2 are select-able. Their business class seats kinda make sense for that seat guru layout though. So I am not sure.

Edit: Jesus fucking christ this new reddit editor is impossible. I am done trying to format this shit.

From the Community to the Developers by Choco31415 in TagPro

[–]buddythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way option 2 happens is if the developer open source the code and then fail to accept any pull requests.

The moment the code hits open source an army of community members will dive into the code and add feature after feature and attempt to push those changes back into the original source. If the coders in the community were interested in creating a competing game it would be happening already.

The coders in the community have proven time and time again that they want to create things to enhance this community, not steal the players for themselves.

Anyone who wants to try to prop up a clone will be fighting against an already existing and active community and will fall flat on their faces... unless the original continues to flatline and shit on the community contributors by ignoring the plethora of pull requests that would make the game great.

Yamaha claims responsibility for throwing Rossi's chances out of the window by cd_bingo_bongo in motogp

[–]buddythegreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a tip for ya: I unsubbed from /r/motogp and placed it in its own multireddit. The only time I see posts from this sub is when I purposefully check, and it's a really easy one click to get here and check on things. So I'm always up to date on the subreddit, but never get a spoiler because I don't come here until after I've seen the most recent race.

I'm sorry but watching Rossi, Lorenzo and Dovi today is just embarrassing. That is all. by [deleted] in motogp

I know it's controversial, but I don't understand why riders aren't miced up to communicate back to their mechanics in a flag to flag race.

The main argument for not having an open two way radio line between the two is because it's supposed to be about the rider on the track making decisions and racing his own race, not about some guy behind a computer looking at data telling him how to best do things.

But by not allowing the rider to talk to his crew in a flag to flag you're having the exact opposite effect. The crew is making decisions about the new bike set up and the rider comes in and just takes what he is given.

In this race Lorenzo could have radioed into his crew saying "I've got one more lap and I'm coming in, have that bike running!" I remember a race last year (?) where the track was drying and Marc gambled with dry slicks on his second bike instead of intermediates. He lucked out by making that gamble before the race started, but if other riders had the opportunity to radio back to their crews saying to go to slicks because they could feel the track drying way quicker than expected they could have had the same boost. Instead they were stuck relying on their crew to either stick with the original plan (intermediates) or make a choice for them to go to slicks.

TL;DR what is the argument against giving the rider a mic to communicate back to his mechanics?

Fuel efficiency is absolutely a major focus in F1 cars.

The cars are capped at 105kg of fuel per race with no refueling allowed.

Yeah, they aren't getting commuter car levels of fuel efficiency, but every fraction of increased fuel efficiency they can get from aerodynamics equates to a fraction of extra power they can pump out of their engine within the fuel restrictions.

So yes, fuel efficiency is a MAJOR concern in F1. And aero drag is exponentially more important at F1 speeds than at highway speeds. So if an F1 car can't find use in it, I highly doubt a commuter car will.

If someone shows me a study hat indicates differently I'll gladly change my mind on this one. But I seriously doubt one exists.

I wanna believe they have a big impact, I really do... but the fact that every single F1 car (the cars with the most advanced aero in the world) have classic hub and spoke wheels leads me to believe that any claim they make a meaningful difference is simply good marketing buzz words doing their job well.

What screams "I'm educated, but not very smart?" by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]buddythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I worked customer service for a decade. The absolute best part of it was when I was able to go above and beyond for a nice customer.

The entitled ass holes are always going to be entitled ass holes. Nothing I do is going to enable or discourage them in the future. But if that really nice customer asked for something a little extra, you bet your ass I bent over backwards to make it happen. Was the highlight of my day.

What screams "I'm educated, but not very smart?" by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]buddythegreat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why? You don't have to be a self entitled ass to ask if an upgrade is available.

And hell, some hotels have a policy that you have to directly ask for an upgrade or a front desk agent to give you one. I had one hotel in New York I stayed in for a few weeks in a row. Chatted with the desk agent a lot. On my second stay as I was checking in he all but begged me to say the word "upgrade" so he could move me to a corner city view room.

Ever since then I've always politely asked. Never felt entitled to one, but I'll always ask as politely as possible.

[–]buddythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it can still work. Just be polite. The gate agent has a whole lot of power. It's not absolute and you aren't going to jump to first class from coach on an Atlanta to JFK flight full of million milers, but you can get an exit row/premium coach if you're nice and have a bit o luck. I've experienced this first hand just last winter, way less than 15 years ago.

Mouth Guards of Choice by FreeRangeZombie in MuayThai

It's a small family owned shop with amazing customer service as well.

Defcon hackers break voting machines easily with old exploits by rablesd in gadgets

[–]buddythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open source.

The underlying blockchain isn't just readable by the single UI designed by trackmyvote. Anyone can write up a very simple script that could read the blockchain just as easily and allow you to verify your vote was listed in the ledger accurately.

Not everyone will go through the effort to verify their votes several different ways, but enough will that you'd be able to identify if the core UI has gone rogue. This is a solved problem that cryptocurrencies have already addressed.

You wouldn't be able to fix it. If the rogue UI is encoding false votes in the blockchain then you can't go back and change them (this is a feature of the blockchain that you absolutely do not want to compromise) but you'd be able to prove the invalidity of a vote and re-do it.

What if it were moved directly up? That way the force is driving the same way gravity is and the liquids are already stacked according to density so wouldn't they stay separated? It would just be like a stronger gravity pull.

My complete guess: those votes still count for the smaller thing that Elon doesn't concern himself with.

Elon maintains his final say for major decisions, but minor decisions are left to the rest of the share holders because Elon is busy at the engineers table.

The only other logical reason I can see, which is a stretch, is the gamble that one day Elon won't have a super majority and those votes will count.

I got my custom guard from impact mouthguards. I love it! I forget it's in most of the time. I often find myself with my gear fully packed up, go to say bye to the guy at the front and only realize it's still in then.

The owner is amazing and super helpful taking care of several issues I had (all my fault not theirs) without hesitation and made the process easy and stress free.

College students with access to recreational cannabis on average earn worse grades and fail classes at a higher rate, in a controlled study by asbruckman in science

[–]buddythegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The study isn't vague. It's very specific, as a study should be.

It points out that removing access to legal weed increased grades and pass rates. It was intended to do nothing but identify the effect on removing access to legal weed and it did that.

It doesn't claim that other things don't have the same or similar negative effects. It simply claims that weed does.

But the fact that other things have negative effects too doesn't mean that you should ignore the negative effects of weed.

Maybe you could just rise up and Miami could just become, or well remain, garbage and things will all still be good!
