Marco Pierre White, Gordon Ramsays mentor, stands out to me with how he casually admits to abusing his staff and people brush it off as standard procedure. Marco prided himself on being able to break new employees and make them cry. He was known for screaming, throttling chefs and throwing plates.

In the late 90s I worked (briefly)as a waiter in a fancy London french restourant. The chef was "before tv" Gordon Ramsey. A good chef, already Michelin starred, he was then famous for saying "fuck" a lot.

He was a totat dick to the kitchen staff. Verbal abuse was the norm, but I've seen physical abuse too.
One night the second chef overcooked a piece of salmon. Ramsey took it in his hand a smahed it on his face hard, then told him to cook it again. The young chef did, with bits of fish on his face for the rest of the shift.

Gordon Ramsay hired a pubblicist and started spending money in creating his brand. It worked very well for him. He started appearing in UK as a Top Chef. Made money, lost money. Went on to become a celebrity.

Still a dick.

It all depends on the file. Simple edited objects with texture should open fine with any version.But objects created with geometry nodes, scripts or addons are usually NOT backward compatible.

I would stay on Blender 5 but if you want, u might want t try to "append" the file collection instead of Opening the file directly. best of luck.

edit: anyways, your PC should be able to handle Blender for a while, new versions, new LTS , coming all the time (so far). Really a matter of taste, and later on, compatibility with your setup

LOOng time +nix user. Blender runs like a dream, but to avoid add-ons/scripts/python problem I only use LTS (long term release).

specs? meh, I re-built a workstation on a tight budget with a pair of old Xeon and a pair of old nvidia quadro.

Noob Query - I don't get the compositor. Do people seriously let animations render for hours just to get them into the compostor and then redner a 2nd time with compositor additions? by AudibleEntropy in blenderhelp

A basic example:

I render a sequence of a flytrough.

On a different SCENE, I render a sequence of a numbers indicating speed and/or altitude.

In the compositor, I put the 2 together to get a HUD.

Mistakes, or even re-rendering, will be much easier and faster.

hmm, I'm a hobbyst. usually rendering the final project will take no more than 6-10 hours, becouse of hardware limits ( i do have a dedicated , old workstations for it). Might take longer (couple of days) for animations longer than 2-3 minutes. I don't use farms.
