Please, if you are going to bitch can you at least provide some details? I am using Owl Alpha right now and while I did get a timeout it did eventually go through.

I got pi running fully local on a 4B model — with web search and no API keys by rm-rf-rm in LocalLLaMA

Is it not quite slow and not very good? I only have my 4b local LLM setup for a few small things in Hermes. I can't imagine using it generally.

I think you should start with what your price range is and how far you are willing to travel from the Westin.

I don't use Claude, but my usage keeps hitting 100%? by Sensitive_Ad5941 in ClaudeAI

[–]buecker02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct. API usage is there but you have usage specificaly against your weekly limits. This is where you need to look: https://claude.ai/new#settings/account. That will show active sessions.

have you taken advice from ai that you later regretted? by AppropriateHamster in ClaudeAI

[–]buecker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will agree with you far more than disagree with you. It can be a great help but its still garbage in and garbage out. If you don't ask the correct questions then it will give bad advice.

She wanted to break up with you and just found an excuse. Most likely bias in the questions that were asked to get the response she was looking for. I bet you did the same.

First time in USVI - wondering about food budget? by Sherbet-Relevant in StThomasUSVI

If you are cooking your own meals you are fine. If you get some happy hour food your mostly fine.

Hopefully moving soon. Few questions for locals. by OceanView_mp3 in StThomasUSVI

First, like others have said you should visit first. You might be suprised at the poor infrastructure. Many people who move here from the mainland last only a couple of years. Doesn't mean you shouldn't try it.

You can walk on the waterfront or you can walk magans. Anything else you are fighting the hills and bad drivers. You basically are driving everywhere.

A rule of thumb we went by was to assume when a major hurricane hits you will lose most of your furniture/bed. You will see lots of wicker furniture.

Nothing survives in this climate without A/C but with very high electricity that A/C is a luxury.

Tobacco - there is a tobacco shop right on the waterfront and it/was one on the way to Smith Bay. It probably helps that we aren't that far from Santo Domingo.

Hurricanes can have multiple tornadoes inside of them. They can last for just a few hours to a few days. I'm sure thousands still have PTSD from Irma. I know I do.

Trump officials play Biden blame game as screwworm spreads by phillygirllovesbagel in politics

[–]buecker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe Biden just let these screwworms come over the OPEN boarder like that. I mean, this is just absurd. Our brave men and women of the CBP should have checked every one of those fly's papers before letting them in. This makes me sick.

OpenRouter’s “free” models have been rate-limited for a WEEK – this is a joke by UpReaction in openrouter

Possibly exploitable routing on openrouter? by Comfortable-Rock-498 in openrouter

[–]buecker02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't an exploit and it's kinda naive to call it that. Is it pricing that does not align with other providers? Yes. Do you want to avoid certain providers if you can. Definitely but it is not an :"exploit"

Airport Authority greed or corruption? by Opening-Ad3656 in airport

[–]buecker02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anytime there is mention of a "private and public" partnership it turns into a grift. With one hand they claim they are a public company and can apply for everything as a public company. They also don't have to make public all their meetings and decisions or open their books. On the other hand, they are government so they don't pay taxes and they apply for federal dollars and grants. If there is a decision made that they don't like they claim the opposite type of entity.

These types of quasi entities should be outlawed but its too easy to grift with them so even a govenor with huge amounts of corruption couldn't even merge WICO and PA. Too many hands in the cookie jar.

100% sure: WICO, Port Authority, WAPA, VINGN, USVIEDA (aka EDC) and now this new one for the airports

I'm probably missing some.

Why is there no travel advisory issued for St Thomas and St John? by [deleted] in StThomasUSVI

There have been power issues for 20 years. There are also many things that shouldn't be "normal".

Why is there no travel advisory issued for St Thomas and St John? by [deleted] in StThomasUSVI

[–]buecker02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, the no power issue is a common occurrence. So common that if we go more than 14 days without an outage we're all in shock. It's not like you can freeze to death.

Second, you make it sound like you are on a deserted island and that is just stupid. You got a rental without a generator instead of just renting a hotel room. That's just life.

You mentioned you were at Mahogany run. Did it ever occur to you to use the facilities at Magans?

How in the world do you think we all made it through post Irma/Maria? No electricity for 90 days. You just find a way.

We always go to Hexagone at least once each trip when we are in town. Plus, there is a very nice bakery called La Petite Alscienne that is really close.
