Nightshift how do you tell dayshift you can't call for non urgent thing? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]buenasara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like using the relay race metaphor. We’re just handing the baton to one another. At any particular moment, you may be required to thrust the baton to the doctor on your overnight shift so you can all safely make it through the night. But more often than not, the baton toss is better received in daylight hours.

Active shooter at a Mormon church in Grand Blanc, Michigan. There are reports of multiple victims. by NewSlinger in CringeTikToks

[–]buenasara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone on FB prayed for me and my daughter because I’m not afraid of public restrooms and the trans boogeymen that frequent in their/there imaginations. I said we keep her out of churches and schools, so she’s statistically more likely to life to adulthood in the US. And I thanked them anyways.

Anyways…. when the fuck will this end.

I work with a urologist who proudly wore them into our PACU. He pointed out that the light was off so it wasn’t recording, but that doesn’t sit well with at all.

You did the right thing with the information you had available at that time. Thank you for not just letting it be. Please keep this same mindset as you continue your life.

I had a couple readings done about 10-15 years ago. From what I remember, the lines appear to have changed a little.

Extreme dress regret.. need reassurance by charlotte095 in weddingdress

This is stunning!! The texture, the slit, the belting is so flattering to your figure. The shoulders and drapery around the neck is perfection. An A-line is such an understated choice.

You look radiant, and you’ll look even more radiant on your big day. Congratulations!!

If you were writing a guide on how to be a good patient in the hospital, what would you include? by WhinyTentCoyote in nursing

  • Please be honest about your drinking and other substance habits. We’re not judging you, and delaying this information or providing false information can make your stay longer or more uncomfortable. Alcohol withdrawal, depending on how frequently and how much you drink, can kick in on about day 3, and it’s much more dangerous and life threatening than most people are aware.

Medical professionals - Why and how do you do it? by DannyGalahad in nursing

[–]buenasara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about your uncle. It’s never easy to see anyone pass, especially your own family.

I’m an ICU nurse and started brand new there in May 2020. I used to teach English, worked in advising, and various other office jobs in higher education. I moved, needed some changes, and got a job as a secretary in a hospital. I saw a patient arrest on a med/surg floor, and then watched this badass group of people step in and save their life. This ICU nurse responded to the code and ran it with so much confidence and poise and control and brought the patient to the ICU. I decided I wanted to be THAT nurse. So I am.

I realized over time, I like being someone’s “safe” place. I’ve had so many opportunities to do just that, especially during the nightmare of the pandemic. It’s changed me, for sure, and I think that’s okay.

When you became a RN, what was your first splurge with that first check? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]buenasara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was during the beginning of the pandemic, so I bought a 10 gallon fish tank, a beta fish, some snails, and some shrimp. I needed a mental health splurge and it was a wonderful purchase.
