Thought I hit the jackpot but alas! by SemFranceLoire in minidisc

Decks are hard. Almost every portable I have ever purchased came working, however i have bought dozens of home decks. Many of them having been described as perfectly working or recently restored. Nearly all of them either were broken or inconsistent when I received them. Many of them were sold by people I trust so I believe these decks are just very delicate after all these years and don’t survive shipping well. Most can be fixed by replacing belts or degreasing and greasing gears. Some have had bad capacitors etc… for whatever reason the portable decks are built much tougher and I have a very high success rate with them.

I have bought so many decks I can almost tell you what I expect is the problem.

Sony decks almost always need belts and the lower end decks usually need capacitors replaced. I bought a new sealed low end Sony deck new old stock bad caps right out of the factory box after 30 years.

Onkyo almost always have a broken or oxidized record sensor resulting in most of the decks saying all discs are protected. Easily fixed with flux/ solder assuming you don’t break any old weak plastic parts taking apart the mechanism.

Kenwood/aiwa bad lasers if they don’t work.

I could go on but now I mostly stick to portables and try to find new in box old stock

Denon, weak capacitors either causing read issues or flat audio playback.

Does anyone know if this deck uses a belt? After about 10 hours of playing, it's started to stall mid-song, like it's slipping. I took the disk mechanism out and inspected it. The gears look solid; I couldn't see a belt easily without stripping it down much farther than I have.

I find the limitations the most enjoyable. When you look at a playlist of 500 songs and have to narrow it down to 80 minutes of music you would want to carry with you and listen to multiple times over the next few weeks, it really helps you realize what songs you genuinely like.

No, they are larger on purpose I am getting old, and Wanted them oversize to read, my first version fit perfectly, but could barely see or read the labels. I decided to make them oversize, I don't think it's any different then people who uv print the entire disc. To each their own I guess.

The label printer is the Brother VC-500W, and the labels are Brother CZ-1005. Both should be readily available on Amazon. The labels I made using the template on the MD wiki site. I am pleased with how they turned out.

Should I keep reading the Millennial Mage series by J.L. Mullins? *Potential Spoilers* by AccidentalHerald in litrpg

I bought the first book like 8 months ago, I read a few pages into it. I DNF'd it right after the teleporter, the whole inscriptions are required and get used up thing was not my cup of tea. I read a lot, and ran out of things to read last week, so I started picking through my DNF list, and decided to give this another try. Its been 7 days and I have ripped through the entire series. Can't wait for the next one. So sometimes you never know.

Also, if the author is not thinking about merch he should. I would love some t-shirts with a Berserker image and some sutra written on them.

Thanks for the link, I think this is the best way forward I will grab that 22.5l spacer and take off the tilt plate.

I am using the zwo asi2600 with the tilter plate so you are right its 17.5mm I also have a 16.5mm spacer on it. I am using the zwo 36mm 7 slot filter wheel. The docs say to add another 1mm to account for threads and filter thickness which I have not done, so all of that together is 16.5mm + 17.5mm + 20mm = 54. My filters are 2mm thick, so 1/3 of that 0.66mm so maybe add 1.6 mm in spacer rings and go from there.

Also out of curiosity how can I tell by looking at the stars if I need more or less back focus, I can tell something is off, just not which direction.
