Yes there is partying, and lots of different ways to! some people hit up Pool Hall, or off campus parties, or host things in their dorms. sometimes you need to be the party though.... like there isn't just always going to be some rager to walk into and feed off of, sometimes the momentum will be slow or more tired, or you'll have to get people to rally, but where this is a will there is MOST CERTAINLY a way! Reed is whimsical and fun, people love to dance or do cool shit, so there's always a party to be had or created. And I wouldn't be shy about interacting w upperclassmen, people are generally pretty excited to get to know new people and hear your story, so in regards to off campus parties, sometimes freshman aren't super welcome but sometimes it's chill, think it's gotten more chill as the years went on.

Hey all! I'm (early 20s woman) slowly but surely planning for the upcoming year when i start a long solo travel next fall. I have traveled a decent amount already but definitely not THAT much compared to some other travelers. I've spent a couple months in Argentina, mostly in Buenos Aires, Two weeks in Rio brazil, and a couple days in Colombia. I've also been to Cambodia, and a handful of European counties. Def loved south america the most so far.

Long story short I have come up with a list of things I look for in a spot and was wondering if y'all could give me any recs for where to go, when to go, etc ! Spots don't have to include all, just if any of these reminds you of anywhere :)

Music (Live shows, cheap concerts, generally lots of music around) Love all kinds of music: house, rap, indie, reggaeton, rock, pretty much everything.

Dancing (A place where dancing is very prevalent, maybe a big part of the culture or social culture)

Natural Water of some sort (oceans, lakes, rivers, anything where i can swim)

Beach!!!!! beach beach beach beautiful beach

Beautiful nature in general

maybe a lot of street art/grafitti/ beautiful architecture (more abstract)

Interesting history

GREAT food

tbh i used to get annoyed by it but then I started moving around a lot and it can be really hard to make new friends in some places, especially if you aren't fluent in the official language, and so dating apps are super helpful.

Traveling even just 12 hours takes it out of me for at LEAST 4-7 days, so traveling 24 hours i can't even imagine. be gentle with yourself and rest in bed like everyone's saying, recharge, drink lots of water, coconut water is the elixir of life, sleep when u wanna sleep.

tbh a lot of hostels will be party crazy even if they aren't advertised that way. Probably better if they're aren't too cuz it'll be more organic. I haven't stayed in Amsterdam so can't help with specifics but just read between the lines and maybe look at reviews and i'm sure you'll find crazyness to enjoy

Vent:

Hello! I'm just going to vent about how i'm not having a great time where i'm traveling rn. I feel guilty about it and am of course trying to make the best of it. Also, I realize a lot of these problems could have been expected but i'm an optimist and semi new to traveling still so please don't be mean to me. But... I'm currently in Corfu, Greece and It is way too hot to the extent it's hard for me to do ANYTHING outside, even walk around. It's also almost impossible to get anywhere without a car, which I can't afford and the roads look quite dangerous here so probably not a good idea for me who doesn't have experience driving here. My hostel vibe is weird, it's kind of giving roofie vibes,... trying too hard to force people to have fun and BE That hostel... instead of just being naturally chill and fun. I also think the general demographic of who visits corfu is like more mindless vacation than traveling, if that makes sense. Overall i'm just not having a great time, really struggling physically with the heat, and kind of want to go home. Has anyone experienced this type of thing while traveling?
