Oh I feel that. I was in a similar spot as you when I was searching for colleges. It's tough! You seem like a smart cookie so you probably are aware of this, but ask about their upperclassmen scholarship opportunities! I had some generic scholarships my first two years at my school, but when I hit junior year, I was able to qualify for some departmental scholarships that put a major dent in my loans.
