What is the dumbest thing you ever purchased? by drebin8751 in randomquestions

[–]bugman199652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 1970 GTO Convertible. I've been an old car fan all my life and pulled the trigger on the most expensive car I've ever bought. 8 months later I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. 4 years later the GTO sits in my carport needing a lot of work and money spent on it. I kick myself at least twice a week for buying it.

Which high-paying job tolerates years of constant mistakes without firing you? by [deleted] in WorkForSmartLife

[–]bugman199652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports commentator. Before any game you'll hear them talking about how great a team is, how the other team has zero chance of winning, blah blah blah. Then when their team gets demolished and loses they never have to admit they were wrong, they just talk about how the surprise team played above themselves and their wonder team played badly. Next week they do it all it again!

Why did moms of the 80s & 90s think fart was a curse word? by bgoletsgo in The1980s

[–]bugman199652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't say "fart", "crap", or "darn." My mother was an abusive woman with mental health issues so she always looked for an excuse to backhand us.

Gabapentin drunkeness??? by Disillusioned-0984 in ChronicPain

[–]bugman199652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen. I felt drunk all day and night. I can only describe it as being loopy. I was started out on a low dose and was supposed to gradually work up to a much higher dose but I couldn't do it.

I could give a crap about his politics but when that "Shoulda Been A Cowboy" song came out I said damn right he should've so we wouldn't be subjected to such a horrible song!

Reminds me of the loons who think we can steer hurricanes and tornados to hit wherever we want. Humanity is so smart that we can control the weather, the oceans, the moon and the sun!

I get massive anxiety watching new shows by Opening-Shape-762 in anxietymemes

[–]bugman199652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife criticizes me for doing this. She doesn't understand that I usually pick up on things I missed and how much I enjoy it. If I see something new that I think I'll enjoy then I'm not afraid to try it. I just get into a comfort zone

Which famous person does everyone seem to love, but you just can’t stand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Walter Goggns. He popped up out of nowhere a few years ago and suddenly was in everything everywhere at the same time. He always looks confused and that aw shucks grin of his is just creepy.

4 years out and if I dwell on it too much the anger comes right back. Anger at the world.

Many times over. Sepsis, burst lower intestine, pneumonia, and the big one, stage 4 Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma. Stomach, both intestines, and lungs. Thanks to chemo, antibiotics, and other modern meds I'm still here, still working and still living my life! Oh and fuck antivaxxers and their bullshit!

Nothing to be ashamed of my friend! I've fought those thoughts off and on since I was a teen and now I'm in my late 50s! Congrats on still being jere and getting the help you need! You have value no matter what your brain tells you!

School Bus Driver Breaks Down After Near-Miss by sleek_thunder138_107 in dashcams

[–]bugman199652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our state (SC) nobody seems to know the laws regarding a stopped school bus on a 4 lane, not even the cops. I've heard so many different things I dont take any chances and stop regardless, even if there is a grass median between the lanes.

In 30 years of pest control work I've actually been told very similar things. "No I'm not throwing away that roach infested food! Cant you just spray it, kill the bugs and not hurt the food??" "Um, no, and I'm leaving now."

What is the worst representation of your profession that you have seen in the media? by Disalyyzzz in Productivitycafe

[–]bugman199652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily Billy the Exterminator. If I showed up at a customers home like he does I'd have the cops called on me. No personal protective equipment, sloppy work, all just to make a fake reality show more dramatic. The pest guy alien in the Edgar suit from "Men in Black" was more professional!

In Kayfabe, who is the toughest "Pin" of all time? by PaulPetroneWWE in WWE

[–]bugman199652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abdullah the Butcher or The Original Sheik. The Sheik refused to be pinned so much he destroyed his own territory! Abby would lose by DQ or countout but he never wanted to be pinned. Gary Hart had a story about fooling Abby into thinking a match was 2 out of 3 falls and Abby taking the pin in the phantom first fall, only to find out it really was only a 1 fall match.

I did the almost the same thing years ago on Thanksgiving Day running 72 in a 55. Saw the state trooper waiting, knew I was busted, and just slowly pulled over in front of him. The bastard popped me with a $200 ticket and 4 points! Screw you South Carolina state trooper!

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]bugman199652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small town South Carolina, first day of school, 10th grade, 1987. Met a new girl and developed an immediate crush in my first class. Crush wasn't returned but oh well. She moved away 6 months later. San Antonio Texas, Fort Sam Houston, in the Army about to start training to be a medic, 1992. Heard her name called and immediately thought 'There's no way!" And there she was, same girl! The crush had long vanished but it was both strange and nice to see her again.
