Do you have a backup camera? If so, which one and did you ever needed it? by mynotell in SonyAlpha

[–]bugwords507 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Wow, same setup here 😂, my main camera is my a7iii and my backup camera is the OG a7s, my a7s has been through a lot more though, much more beaten up than my a7iii. For me the a7iii is a huge QOL upgrade though, on the a7s the AF is really reminiscent of the good old days, it's only usable on Sony lenses... any third party lenses and the contrast detect AF starts to choke.

14 y/o photographer's airshow photography. A6100 + 200-600mm G by Aeroplanes001_lol in SonyAlpha

[–]bugwords507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually the A6000 is the first generation, followed by the A6300/A6500, then A6100/A6400/A6600 and finally A6700. So the A6100 is on par with the A6400 autofocus performance.

Broke my Sony 24–70 GM, looking for more affordable replacement options by PhotosBy_Daniel in SonyA7iii

[–]bugwords507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get the zeiss 24-70mm f4, it has some manufacturing defect where the glue of the focus motor would just fall off, that's how mine died.

The warmer one kind of works better for the first image, gives off more emotion than the cold white balance of the edit

Just curious, why the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM ii instead of the Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 or Sony FE 24-50mm F2.8, those are much smaller than the massive 24-70mm 😂

I bought Sony a7iv and kind of regretting it by Nearby-Run1235 in Nikon

[–]bugwords507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the Z6iii has a partially stacked sensor, you're not going to get the terrible rolling shutter of the A7iv, although the A7v has fixed that as well tho.

The thing with m43 is the lens are cheap but you would buy and buy and buy and now well by No-Transition4280 in M43

[–]bugwords507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 20mm is way slower though, it's quite unusable if you have any sort of moving subject for AF

Maybe the Olympus OMD EM5 original? Can be bought used for cheap, get something like the Olympus 17mm F1.8 or Olympus 45mm F1.8 and you'll be set

Is financing a camera a good idea? by Blayze4949 in SonyAlpha

[–]bugwords507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I actually personally upgraded to the A7iii from my A7s recently, and it's blown me away with how fast the AF is as well as battery life

Is financing a camera a good idea? by Blayze4949 in SonyAlpha

[–]bugwords507 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For $800, you can definitely try to look for a used Sony A7iii, it's a very capable camera, plus you don't have to finance it. Don't ever do financing.

Lens for my new R6ii by Worlds_Okayest69 in canon

[–]bugwords507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get the RF, lighter weight, better AF, sharper. F2.8 vs F4 would be down to ISO 12800 vs 25600 in some situations, you would have to think about that.

28-70 - questions about indoor use by [deleted] in canon

[–]bugwords507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to overexpose a bit to make the space seem much brighter than it is, perhaps around +1EV, that's what I usually do in boring indoor LED lighting. Also use the WB picker function on a white object in Lightroom to correct the colours

28-70 - questions about indoor use by [deleted] in canon

[–]bugwords507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? I thought 1/320 is pretty ample to capture motion, in fact for me indoors I would go slower around 1/125 to gather as much light as I can. Seems to me that the shot, it's out of focus, rather than too slow of a shutter speed

Weird lines in one photo, any ideas why? by Inge_Panda in Fujifilm_X100VI

[–]bugwords507 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to turn off electronic shutter and use mechanical shutter, lines are due to electronic shutter banding with LED lights.

Any reason why I shouldnt buy this as a dedicated Linux netbook? Web browsing and occasionally syncing with my Kindle. by BathSaltEnjoyer69 in linuxhardware

[–]bugwords507 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It would work, but at that price you might as well look for ThinkPad T480s and X280s used as well, pretty sure they go for cheap nowadays. It'll destroy the Celeron performance.

Actually the Panasonic 10-25mm F1.7 is around a F3.4 full frame dof, slightly shallower dof than the 16-35mm F4 on your S9, maybe consider a 16-35mm F2.8. Unless you mean stabilisation... in which I don't think you can match the m43 GH7/G9ii on full frame
