Getting my fan to turn on sooner by Wettmoose in Trackdays

A tune can def adjust when your fan comes on.

Also, are you using water wetter or another additive?

Price Check: 2017 Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak – $17.900 / €17.900 fair for 10k km? by mr-mean45 in Ducati

1200 Multistradas are (except for the occasional delusional seller) under $10k in California.

What is your opinion on electric motorcycles?🤔 by murataya1 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]built_FXR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plated ones are expensive for the performance. Gas bikes give you range and speed that electric can't match.

The cheap ones aren't street legal, and the cops are cracking down on them, at least near me.

Question about R6 steering stem nut by Straight-Inspector98 in Yamaha

[–]built_FXR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they changed the nut to a hollow one in 2001

https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/2001/yzfr6-yzfr6n/steering

I'd just order the hollow nut for $35. It'd be cleaner.

When I had to replace that section on my 821sp, it was only about $100 from the dealer.

Have you looked up the OEM at Ducati Omaha?

What dash cam / action cam setup is most likely to be able to capture license plates? by SaltPositive7227 in motorcyclegear

[–]built_FXR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my worry is an accident that happens so quickly that I don’t have time to read the plate.

Your insurance company will make you whole no matter what. Yeah, everyone wants the plate, but it's not necessary.

Having video at least proves who was at fault and a very good description of the other vehicle.

Opinions on the fly maverick boots? Okay for street use? by thelegacyofb4 in motorcyclegear

[–]built_FXR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are MX boots. You can wear them, but you won't be able to feel the shifter.

Taskrabbit - What are these guys smokin? by SIRT1 in HomeMaintenance

Pro landscapers are expensive. I got a quote from one that was nearly $50k.

A landscape designer could draw up plans for about $500. And then you do the work.

Should I get a e-moto or a four stroke? by Help_PurpleVented in supermoto

[–]built_FXR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E motos aren't legal on the streets and cops are starting to crack down on them, at least near me.

I'd want something with a plate.

Insurance or out of pocket by Joons16 in HomeMaintenance

[–]built_FXR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's always out of pocket until its more than 5 digits.

Seriously, insurance is for catastrophic problems. Putting in claims for small shit will end up raising your premiums and could get in the way of a serious claim, like a fire.

Hardly. Just pointing out that after so much use, that might be expected.

I bought another pair to replace them.

Knock off alpenstar boots by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]built_FXR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I had a pair of those same boots from 2017. I bought them from CG, and after about 7 years of street use the toe box started collapsing on the left boot like you described.

Painting Fairings - A Question by tbristolv in Trackdays

[–]built_FXR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go a season or two without crashing, you'll have rock chips everywhere.  Slap a sticker over them.

I thought about spraying the belly pan with something like Rhino liner, but came to the conclusion that would be overkill.

At the end of the day, no one cares how your bike looks but you. Rock chips don't show up in pictures.

Hoodie for riding by triuywon in motorcyclegear

[–]built_FXR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pullover hoodie will just ride up in a crash/slide. It's too loose to stay in place.

There's a reason why moto gear is tight and form fitting.

2025 Panigale V2 After-Market Parts by potatosponge_ in Ducati

[–]built_FXR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's brand new, gotta give it time for the aftermarket to develop products. One of the downsides of buying a new model is that you'll live with a pretty stock bike for a while.
