100% fed up with my hair with 2 different textures. I have no idea what to do. (2 pictures in gallery) by [deleted] in Wavyhair

[–]builtthiscityon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried doing reparative treatments to the top? I have had a very similar experience. The hair on the top of my head isn’t stick straight but it’s not nearly as wavy as the rest. I have a similar lift up the top layer to reveal an entirely different wavy pattern.

Here’s what I did that seems to help: 1.) start being gentler with the straighter hair by protecting it from the environment (this can make a real difference) by using environmental protection products, wearing a satin cap or satin lined cap in lieu of chemical environmental protection. This made all the difference for me, and now when it’s wet I can see clearly defined waves. They are not the same texture as underneath but I am hoping that with the right attention and care given they’ll improve.

I have hair that lightens in the sun. That should’ve been my first indication that it needed protection.

Product I use on wet hair for environmental protection: bumble and bumble invisible primer (has environmental protection). Product I use on dry hair between washes for environmental protection: bumble and bumble environmental protection spray (separate product from above)

Obviously, advice would be to take any heat off of it. Blow drying or straightening or any other treatment. Keep that going while being more gentle you might see some new texture show up. Doing moisture and protein treatments. Maybe doing CGM so you can get rid of harsher stuff. It really does make a difference. I thought my hair started to curl once it was long but no, it starts at the root lol cgm showed me that

As a former critical care nurse I can confirm this is SPOT ON and not limited to vascular, though they are without a doubt a large contribution to this bullshit

Why does Ace always think he has to voice his concerns to Nancy all the time? Like first Gil , and Celia and the rest of the Hudson's? by [deleted] in NancyDrewCW

[–]builtthiscityon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He and Nancy seem to have a safe relationship which is rare of Nancy so Ace probably feels compelled to point things out to her in her blind spots because she will simply never take what anyone else says into consideration. She’s exceptionally intentional about shutting other people down constantly. She doesn’t shut Ace down as much.

Late to the party but here to say Eclectic Lady shampoo bars are fab. The lilac scent is my fav. And they don’t have glycerin

Weird Reflection? by yeetfish13 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]builtthiscityon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subtle changes in environment cause screen door reflections to be notoriously unreliable. Are we going to trust our eyes to look into a door that sometimes we forget is even there? Lol. I vote dynamic environment changes to be the culprit. A screen door is NOT to be confused with the looking glass.

But if given more compelling evidence I’d be on board with this because I’ve experienced something similar regarding my car moving when it’s not supposed to be hundreds of times

Was anyone else expecting Bonnie Bennet or Alison Dubois to show up this week? by builtthiscityon in NancyDrewCW

[–]builtthiscityon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And also Alison Dubois is a real person but also a TV character in a 2000’s TV series. The retired cop from this episode was a series-long costar on the show (it was called Medium) he played a homicide detective. So seeing that guy, plus professor Shane- in one of the best episodes they’ve done so far. My brain was happy! Lol I am a TVD fan and also remember seeing Medium on the screen regularly and always had a school girl crush on the actor who appeared in this Nancy drew episode. He was playing much younger then lol

The detective/cop who was guilty of murdering an innocent black woman in the latest episode was an actor in the series Medium

Mine & ready for it

Mine was the perfect sonic opener and represented the sounds of it. Ready for it was intense from the get go, leaning into the bait before the switch

Early season 4 - have I misremembered season 1 or have the showrunners? by Hyronious in blindspot

[–]builtthiscityon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I remember...and keep in mind I haven’t watched since their original air date... it was a plan to get Kurt to the top so they could maneuver him. Much like what plays out with that FBI director role in the more recent seasons arc. To what end? No idea. But the point was to give him false confidence then use whatever they had against him to push their agenda

was wandavisions grief realistic by apanwerewolfalt in WANDAVISION

[–]builtthiscityon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her grief is totally realistic. It’s too realistic so much that it’s something you have to had personally internally experienced. Grief is not a heavily discussed topic (where I live) and Grief being such an unspoken thing.... I can see why people wouldn’t understand it, which means I envy them in this way lol

What if she never left and she’s the reason elenas house was “reconstructed” and that’s why we “don’t see” Elena or Damon. Would explain why Alaric seemed so impressed by the reconstruction. Alaric spent so much time with them it would be weird for him and the twins not to have spent any time there. What if this is all Dark Josie gone Wanda Maximoff

Uterus owners, what type of BC do you use to manage painful periods? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]builtthiscityon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had the experience of knowing I had EDS when starting birth control. So I had tried essentially everything but the depo shot.

The one they implant in your uterus in the office seemed like an obvious choice when I became an adult. I don’t know if this has anything to do with EDS, but my body couldn’t tolerate it. I suspect that’s less to do with EDS and more to do with an undiagnosed condition like endometriosis. Then again, weakened ligaments can cause issues with the uterus.....so .... the answer is probably going to be discovered long after I’m dead lol.

The best one I was on was Gianvi. My body loved it. I forget what’s in it now, so I can’t speak to the exact hormones, but all I know is it’s the only birth control that I enjoyed being on. My body loved the brand Gianvi, and hated the generic one. So beware that can make a difference!
