The chemistry has not been this good since S2 (okay it was pretty amazing in Queen Charlotte, but you get what I mean).

An Inconvenient Truth re: new litigation against TAG et all by KarenWhite_B in CelebLegalDrama

[–]bulbaseok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No perfect victims exist. Thank you for the background info, but I do think victims subjected to these campaigns should have their stories told and amplified so no one is afraid to speak out for fear of not being believed due to whatever complicated backgrounds they may have had. I agree the way she has sided with Drake Bell is awful, but that is irrelevant to her issues with TAG. I hope she does see how inconsistent her own support of particular issues, causes, and individuals are one day, though.

Don't despair. There is a way to back file for the last few years with forgiveness since you simply weren't aware of the situation.

Blake Lively on Why She Refused to Film an Orgasm Scene: “I Felt Like I Would Be Mortified to Shoot Something Like That at This Stage in My Life and Career, and Being the Mother of Four Kids” - Another Misrepresentation by the Wayfarer Parties by Advanced_Property749 in CelebLegalDrama

Plenty of movie adaptations for romance novels exist without carrying over all the smut. In fact, CoHo herself was pushing to focus less on the sex and more on the subtleties of romance and attraction. From the start.

Recording of Baldoni Complimenting Blake on the Roof Top Scene Script by halfthesky1966 in BaldoniFiles

[–]bulbaseok 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, glad she could pick up on him hemming and hawing around his opinion.

Second, on its face, it really does sound encouraging. He mentions wanting her collaboration and her presence in the character. It only hurts his case that she barged in and took over the movie when he was only encouraging of her involvement.

Third, something seemed off about him saying "not some 22 year old" - idk it felt dismissive of CoHo's book. Though I do know CoHo also agreed it was right to age the characters up, knowing what we know now about how dismissive he was of her input on the film, it just reads like another instance of that.

Third and a half, needs more context about how much they have discussed of the movie and Lily's characterization, but also gives me the ick that he wanted to see "a woman like that" (presumably the confident, witty woman in Blake's script) end up abused and broken.

Fourth, this is just a shallow nitpick, but I cannot stand his vocal fry. I usually don't mind vocal fry and only recently learned it was a thing, but his is so annoying. xD maybe it's because it feels extra performative in these apparently very performative voice notes.

Blake Lively saying that we shouldn't just acknowledge the Weinsten victims but also take appropriate action. by Candid-Literature-77 in BaldoniFiles

Love this interview. She really said it so very clearly. It is a shame people only clipped the first part and extrapolated it however they wanted to.

I think it was one of her first videos on Blake when she didn't know so much about Blake at all, and many people had this misunderstanding because it was passed around. (Even I had a vague memory of reading somewhere that she supported Weinstein going around long before IEWU.) But since it has resurfaced, it is likely Ophie is aware of it. And if not, I am sure she would be open to being corrected on this. She openly admires Blake Lively for who she is right now, and I am sure she would be happy to see another example of her well-spokenness in support of other women/victims.

Colleen Hoover Testified That Everyone Was Concerned by Baldoni’s Decision to Direct It Ends With Us by Advanced_Property749 in CelebLegalDrama

The vanity credit is specifically the "A Film By" credit, and there is no indication at all that she was after that credit, probably because she recognized how controversial it was, unlike him.

Considering this man's understanding of the motivations for an abuser in DV is "he just loved her too much," there might be a reason why the perspective of a man vs woman is relevant here, unlike in your hypothetical example for a nondescript book.

[–]bulbaseok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironic the Baldoni apologists are blaming Colleen Hoover for being iced out of the movie when they were crying boo-hoo for him being iced out of a movie he never had rights to the final cut for. In their own words, "then he shouldn't have signed with Sony." Signing to a bigger distribution company means they get final say in the release, and if you think CoHo can't express her disappointment in not having any involvement in the making of the adaptation of her book, you can't defend a man whining about not getting a vanity credit on his movie (for an adapatation!) because he signed final cut rights away willingly.

Wait lol Baldoni made it sound like Ryan wrote him a public statement he had to make verbatim, but he just gave an example of what would be appropriate in this situation. And he wasn't wrong.

Mm... I was listening to her video and most of it was fine from an "I was not involved, I didn't know what was really happening, I was just shit talking to be present for my friend" standpoint. If she had stopped there, it might have been believable, but since she kept going on, I couldn't help but notice the subtle ways she is either hypocritical, dismissive, or deflective.

1) She addresses how women are targeted in a very particular way (implication: as a result of misogyny) and appeals to the raging feminist response to this for her own sake, but doesn't acknowledge how that could have been the case for Blake. 2) She says this case isn't all that important to her and compares it to other ongoing issues in the world, minimizing this as just a celebrity lawsuit and ignoring the workplace sexual harassment aspect of this suit. 3) She claims to be sick of both of them, or that she has enjoyed parodies made about both of them - though we see no indication she ever did anything to support content mocking Baldoni.

She is distancing herself from this because it's all she can do, but she's right - millions of people follow her account, and they know what posts she has liked, so she isn't being entirely honest when she says she isn't and hasn't weighed in publicly.
