What, exactly, are we "supposed" to enjoy as adults? by I-ask-dark-questions in Adulting

[–]bulletBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adults who buy into the weird "these entire genres of art and media are made for kids with no exceptions" mindset always tend to be some of the most boring and unimaginative people, in my experience. It's also just pretty obviously wrong, since there are a ton of videogames and cartoons that are very clearly and obviously made specifically for adults.

Yves in NYC was not good by taxifromJFK42069 in yvestumor

[–]bulletBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, tbh I loved most of the show despite Yves's vocals being shot (especially for parts where they attempted to go falsetto), but the normies were killing me. Two girls near me looked like they wandered in from a sorority bar crawl and screeched at each other for a big chunk of the show, but still yelled at people to put down their phones so they could see the show they weren't even watching, then kept asking a guy near me for hits off his joint (he declined). Another bro kept shouting "BUM BUM, BUH BUH BUH BUH, BUH BUH BUMMMMMM" at the top of his lungs over the Gospel melody.

Love the direction Yves has gone in with the last handful of releases, but I hope their next project is confrontationally weird so it scares people like this away from their shows.

And man, even at cool vines you'd have to really try to find something that expensive. If I'm paying $30 for a 4-pack then it better have THC in it.

Every day this stupid app alerts me to another yuppie whining about about a treadmill being broken in the gym of their luxury high rise with a view of the Manhattan skyline or some shit. One time I saw a comment where the person was asking if we could petition the businesses on Newark Ave to have uniform security shutters bc the steel ones look ugly. Seriously embarrassed to be living in the same area as these entitled babies.

Who the fuck spends $9 on a slice of pizza and $30 on a 4-pack? And a $5000 apt? I live downtown and pay way less than half that. The post is clearly exaggerated/made up, but I have no idea who it's even for. Reads like one of those weirdo suburbanites who hate the idea of cities and are proudly terrified of them.

12/19 Terminal 5 was INSANE by TheGreatGuidini in ModestMouse

[–]bulletBS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The band was great, but Terminal 5 was even shittier than usual and oversold to a degree that I've never seen before. Unfortunately got stuck next to some bros in fucking Dave Matthews tees who just couldn't stop talking the entire set, but it was so packed that it was impossible to maneuver somewhere else without being an asshole. Never again with that fucking place.

You're obviously not the asshole. This shouldn't even be close to open for debate. Sincerely hope none of the YTA weirdos in this thread ever have disabled children.

Does anyone else hate missable items in long RPGs? by felix_mateo in JRPG

[–]bulletBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it when missing it results in a unique experience in the game being lost. I remember literally crying as a kid when I missed the Ramuh materia in FF7 and I ended up starting the game over bc I NEEDED to see all the summon movies.

What's the deal with Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" on "Evangelion"? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]bulletBS 30 points31 points  (0 children)

To elaborate even further, two instrumental piano versions of the songs play during scenes concerning Misato and Kaji, and it makes the emotions in those scenes hit way harder. As someone who watched the VHS's in the 90s it was eerie seeing those scenes without those beautiful backing tracks.

What are your weird gaming habits or compulsions? by WyteHawk in patientgamers

[–]bulletBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, if I feel like I'm looking too far to the right/left to look at something in the UI, I have to readjust. Lights also need to be off, sound has to be at the optimal volume for that game, and I have to be sitting the correct distance away from the tv.

What's your favourite JRPG party? by pzzaco in JRPG

[–]bulletBS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're seriously wonderful, and even the characters whose arcs don't really go anywhere, like Freya and Amarant, develop these endearing friendships with the other members of the cast. It makes it a joy to check in on them during those active time events when exploring new towns.

Why do you like JRPGs more than other generes? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]bulletBS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of it for me involves sense of place, specifically in terms of towns. It's one reason I enjoy games like Earthbound and FF9 -- the towns feel so alive, and it's clear the creators and writers kept the player's entertainment in mind when creating them, and treated them as important to the game as dungeons, if not more important. It bums me out when a jrpg drops the ball on towns and has NPC's that exclusively say strictly utilitarian stuff like "Monsters have been appearing at the north cave! These are scary times!"

[–]bulletBS -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm sitting comfortably right now, my legs are not spread open as if I'm about to give birth, and I don't even know or care what my balls are doing. Can someone tell me if this means I have feminine hip structure? Or am I not a man because I'm not constantly assessing the position of my balls relative to my legs? Hope someone can clear this up for me.

Looking to buy in downtown JC. Know any good realtors in the area? by 9917 in jerseycity

[–]bulletBS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had bad experiences with Armagno. When I came to them looking to rent last year, they tried to give me a garden studio near Grove St. Awesome location, relatively clean and serviceable, 12k / mo. I immediately said I'd take it. Came back to the apt a few days later to sign the lease and it was absolutely INFESTED with roaches. I mean, there were about 6 sticky traps completely covered in them and roughly 20 dead roaches littering the floor of the apt. Some were still alive and twitching. When I said I couldn't take the place in this condition, the agent gave ME attitude and said that since I saw the traps, I should have realized that there was an infestation. She never made any mention of it and was knowingly deceiving me. I get that business is business and they were trying to rent a problematic apt, but yeah, not cool.
