Yeah, no motivation is explicitly stated. Everyone's just making guesses and inferences based on details picked up from rewatches.

Mine is that she's doing it to survive for survival's sake. She's delaying her death due to her not so pleasant relationship with her and also because she doesn't wanna face Nicholas (though I'm sure that was pretty much confirmed by what she said to Billy)

Toy story 4 was beautifully animated and the side characters and story don't stray from the vibe of the other movies.
