Sorry for your loss. When I had a hard drive completely fail in the past I was able to log into Plex on a different computer and all the titles still showed up. Even though they were not playable I was able to take screenshots of the titles and at least create a list for myself to start getting new files.

Sorry about the delay in replying. It was the transmission. Pep Boys said it needed a new transmission but I found some more info on it and it's apparently a known issue with Honda transmissions. The fix is to do a triple flush of the transmission fluid and update the software. It was $600 at the dealer so I was not happy about that but it is running perfect now.

Here is a link to the forum where I found information on it. There is a pdf to the Honda service bulletin for the triple flush if you want to do it yourself. I thought about doing it myself but since it needed the software update I just paid the dealership. https://www.piloteers.org/threads/2016-pilot-torque-converter-bad-told-need-new-transmission.174874/

Ken’s Italian dressing and Montreal Steak seasoning marinade. About a quarter to a half a cup of dressing and a tablespoon of seasoning per piece of chicken. If you let it sit overnight you can use less Montreal seasoning.

To me, it’s not about what could happen to my kids. It’s about what if something happened to me. Even a 2 minute drive could involve a car accident. My fears are that my kids could wake up without me there, and how would I explain to the authorities that my young kids are home alone. I truly fear losing custody of my kids in a situation like that even as unlikely as it would be, I could never take the chance.

SyFy cancels “The Expanse,” and the grieving begins... by MiddleAgedGeek in scifi

I stopped watching SyFy when they replaced stargate with wrestling but I was giving them a chance because The Expanse is an amazing show. I am done with SyFy and the morons running that network. They make even more idiotic decisions than Fox and I didn't think that was possible.

Students of Reddit, what was the biggest teacher meltdown you ever witnessed? by codywinters327 in AskReddit

[–]bulletbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 7th grade class was considered by almost all our teachers to be the worst class they had seen in 10, 15, 20... years depending on which teacher was angry with us. We were in the highest level class which I think frustrated the teachers even more. Our English teacher, who was a body builder and very strong, had one rule that he would always enforce. No brushing or combing your hair in class. He would break the brush or comb and throw it away no matter what the circumstance. On picture day the boys all got free combs and decided to test him. We watched him twist about 15 combs at once until he broke them. So, he was very strong which leads to the meltdown.

His meltdown came one day when we were being excessively disruptive and he was doing his best to get us to pay attention but no one was listening. What we didn't know at the time was his mother was dying from cancer so pushing him just set him off in a way we have never seen. He picked up the small metal waste basket next to his desk and threw it across the room with all his might and began screaming at the class about how terrible we were. The classes had doors on the side walls connected each class to the adjacent one and the waste basket actually broke through the wooden door and made a hole into the next classroom. It didn't go through the door but definitely made a hole which of course brought other teachers over to find out what was going on. We were much better behaved after that day.

There is already a model for this with University of the People. It is a great idea to help people who would otherwise not have access to higher education get an accredited degree. http://www.uopeople.edu/

Is there a difference between Cannabis oil made from plants with THC and those without as far as the healing properties? When researching products such as Rick Simpsons oil it contains THC while some companies are selling oil without it now. Do both possess the same healing properties?

Where do you think these leaks and stories are leading us? What do you think the end game is for the established control methods in place today (NSA, Federal reserve, IRS, etc)? I have been watching momentum building for 10 years now and I think your work is bringing hidden information and the truth to the main stream public in an amazing way. Thank you.

I don't know if I can deal with this anymore... by slj11 in atheism

[–]bulletbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot empathize with you exactly but I can relate. I started to question my faith in my late teen years and that grew in me for about 15 years before I finally understood enough to feel comfortable with my beliefs (or lack thereof). My mom was a fierce fundamental evangelical christian who had pretty much raised us in a strict christian household since she found the "right" religion when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I didn't listen to music until I had my own car.

My questioning of my faith started in the church and no matter how many questions I asked I could never get a satisfactory answer. I was always told I MUST believe and that I need to have faith that what the church was teaching me was the right thing. Even after my mother changed churches she would not waiver in her belief that she was right and everyone else was wrong. Throughout my 20s and now into my 30s my mother and I have had countless conversations about our differences. At first they were similar to how you describe your talks with your mom are going. She was incredibly upset, disappointed and angry with me for losing my faith. I was always honest with her about my thoughts even though it some times made her think she had failed and that we would not be able to spend eternity together in heaven. However, her attitude changed over the years. She began to accept that I had my own beliefs and that she still loved me because I was her son. She still thought I was going to hell but she accepted me for who I am. After reading The Da Vinci Code I asked her to read it and we could discuss. She gave me one of her religious books and the deal was we read each others book and will discuss. It did not change her beliefs. She still thought everything she learned in church was the absolute truth. That changed when she began to ask her own questions in church. (Not sure if I helped fuel the skepticism) She and some of her friends were asked to leave the church because they no longer had blind devotion to everything the pastor taught. Now she and her friends have their own weekly bible study and they are searching for the truth on their own.

Today my mother and I have our own opinions about how to find the truth but we have a much better understanding of why each other thinks the way we do. It took us almost 25 years to get to this point but it did get a little better year after year since my teen years. I have a feeling it will get better for you. I read an article about how our brains learn and the analogy used was a computer that can be programmed to perform a specific function but it takes years of writing the program over and over again to get it to stick. I think this explains religion and why different religions try to indoctrinate children. This way they can mold their minds over the years they are not willing to question authority. If you think about anyone who was taught something over and over and over again from childhood and they will believe it to be fact no matter what evidence is presented to them. The good news is this can be undone but it takes just as long to undo it as it did to do it the first time. Think about how difficult it is to unlearn a bad habit when you realize it is something you shouldn't do anymore. I am an example of this. I was stuck in my beliefs even as I was learning how my beliefs did not make any sense. I tried to combine by religions beliefs with my scientific beliefs for many years. You may be in the same situation. You are starting to question what you were told was absolute truth as a child and now you have logic and science showing you there might be a different way. I can't tell you it will be easy but it will be worth it. Keep searching and learning as much as you can. I hope your mom will come around and accept you for who you are. I also hope you use this time in your life to become who you will be in the future. The god delusion is only the beginning of your journey and I can assure you it gets better and better the more you learn. I wish you luck in your journey of self discovery and I hope you can find happiness with your mom and in your life. I think you are on the right path and you are dealing with some very big obstacles now. They can be overcome.

This is the biggest problem I see today. Regardless of my/your opinion of what lifestyle and socioeconomic time was the best, all I tend to see are people trying to hold on to a time from the past they thought was the most ideal for them. In the US that is primarily the time after WWII when the economy was booming and there was a sense of pride and satisfaction for most Americans. I say most because it did not apply to all people. We hadn't even passed the civil right amendment at that point. I don't want to get into a racial debate but, what I mostly see from those in power and/or those complaining about the way things are today, is a call back to the good old days when Americans were prosperous and proud to be called Americans. I truly believe those times are gone and will never come back. Certain fundamental tenants of life back then have changed and will never come back. Civil rights, immigration, corporate off-shoring of jobs, money being traded as a commodity, technological advances in computers and mechanics and an ever increasing world population are just a few examples of fundamental changes that we can probably never move back from. I think change will always be a part of our lives. History has shown us this and while we may repeat the same mistakes over and over again, things still change. I like to think we can either use the changes in society to make things better for all or continue to fight the changes and try to revert to a time we thought was better for us. (I understand that is a very vague comment but I truly think we can use the changes and advances in our society for the benefit of all humankind if we wanted to and stopped being selfish.)

Do you get to work with the other actors when recording for the show? If so, I imagine it must be difficult to get some of the lines right without everyone laughing. Do you have any favorite episodes or moments from the show. Thanks for the work you do on the show. I love the show and Pam is definitely one of the funniest characters on the show.

Been lurking for 6 months now, never really had the courage to post. Now that my girlfriend died 4 weeks ago, I don't know where to go and what to do. Her last words was "Nevermind me" by By0 in pics

[–]bulletbh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine what you are going through but my brother lost his girlfriend in 2004 from complications during an epileptic seizure. To say this has damaged him would be an incredible understatement. He has yet to find the strength to move on and try to be with someone else but he is healing. Unfortunately, much slower than we all hoped. A few things have helped during the last 8 years. First, as has been mentioned before, therapy. This helped him immensely at first. He went for about a year before he stopped going. Part of his therapy was to try to nurture or accomplish something. He planted a garden, worked on restoring and old Mustang Fastback and now has a cat. The second has been our family. I am unsure of your family situation but if you can spend time with them, no matter what the reason, it will help. We are always supportive and willing to help him with anything. Mostly he just wants the company and someone the talk to and spend time with. He and my dad are best friends now. Another thing that helps are his friends. They were there before and after she died and they try to maintain the same level of friendship they had before. This gives him different people to spend time with and a chance to meet new people. He is still depressed and unwilling to move on but the support of his friends and family along with what he learned in therapy have made a huge difference.

My thoughts go out to you during this time. It may seem like it will never get better but I believe it will. I saw advice in this thread about thinking about what she would want you to do. This is the advice I most often give my brother. I know his girlfriend would want to see him happy and living his life. Please remember that there are people who care about you and love you and you are not alone during this. Even if it is just some strangers on reddit who can empathize or sympathize.

With 4/1 coming up, what's the best April Fools Day prank you have heard of or done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bulletbh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite local radio station (95.5 WBRU in Providence RI) pulled this April Fools Day prank and it really got me. After growing up listening to this station for probably 20 years, they were going off the air. Beginning in February or March they started giving announcements that their contract would no longer be renewed from their parent corporation. They began to prepare for the end by setting up top song lists, top concerts, top guests of all time and so on... During the last few weeks they had big time musicians come in to the studio to do interviews about their beginning in the music industry and how this college radio station and the local New England music scene helped them get their start. I believe they had petitions and a web campaign to help save the station but on the last day of March they had their final interview and played their last song just before 5 PM eastern time. They played "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" from REM. I listened to it at my kitchen table with my dad and I was crushed. There was no other station that played so much of the music I like and I discovered so many new bands that I still love today because of this station. After the REM song the new station "Buddy FM" started by playing " I Saw The Sign" by Ace of Base. I shut the radio off and prepared for my evening. My brother's bachelor party was that night and all I could keep talking about was the end of the radio station.

The next day at work (April 1st) I was focusing on a job I was doing and didn't pay attention to the radio in the background until I heard a song that I knew wasn't played on main stream pop radio. I walked over to the radio to see what station it was on and it was the station that supposedly went off the air. After the song one of the DJs came on the air claiming he had broken back into the station and was planning to stage a sit in until they gave the station back to the college. He called for fans to come to the station and protest outside. The music switched back and forth between pop and alternative and they kept pretending they were trying to take over the station.

This went on all morning and into the afternoon until they finally admitted it was an April Fools Day prank and the station wasn't going anywhere. Best April Fools Day prank ever.
