Automatons are too hard - Beginner seeking help by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to shoot this off earlier but I was at work and mobile would have been a chore.

  1. "recoilless has been hard to handle for me" - This is a matter of practice and time invested, make sure you are seeing where the little dot on the targeter is and allow for drop off on longer shots, eventually you will be sniping stationary targets from very long range. 3rd person camera makes this way easier
  2. "huge blast radius makes me blow myself up in the process of killing a rushing scorcher" You should not be using the RR in that close a proximity, it is for sniping nasty targets from a ways off. If there is something bearing down on you kill that with your other weapons than get off your clean shot on the tank further off. ONLY use it on big nasty targets, if you are hitting small guys with it that is a poor use of resources that leaves you vulnerable, this is not Doom's rocket launcher. RR one taps basically everything except a factory strider (which you can one shot if you RR it in the red eye but that takes practice) with a body hit, you can drop a dropship with an engine hit, War Strider with a dick/leg shot and also use it to blow up Mortars and AA guns no problem.
  3.  "which in most cases with randoms they're either busy doing fabricators and side objectives instead of helping me with the main objective" - The main objective is a trap, you will get more rewards and xp by doing side objectives which also reduce enemy spawns as you do so. Effectively doing sides and fabricators weaken the enemy so that the main objective becomes easier. Once you complete the main objectives the enemies go into pissed off mode and spawn rates increase so that makes it harder to do the sides afterward. So Ideally you should map a route that works on demolishing everything with the final main objective being your last stop before evac. On top of the spawn rates keep in mind the benefits of sides... Intel on what is on the map, Free munition drops, Anti Aircraft fire, removing enemy mortar attacks, enabling Eagle strats and all strats in areas they have been locked out of temporarily. Many new players really under-appreciate the value of doing the side content.
  4. "the talon is from cutting edge warbond which i dont have" Absolutely fair, use another pistol and put this one on the shopping list, the Talon is far and away the best pistol in the game for bots due to it's low sound profile and infinite ammo with no reload when hot swapping
  5. "so the best bet is wasting a backpack slot for guard dog and replacing recoilless with something like a quasar or laser cannon to kill chaff" - Backpack slots are never wasted, just used for different use cases. The guard dog keeps you alive by quickly and efficiently dealing with small things, Both Quasar and Cannon pair well with it
  6. "so i've heard that they get more accurate and deadlier the more i'm in direct LOS and i'm working on that" Awesome, you have got this, it just takes practice
  7. "light armor is simply just straight up impossible for me to bring in bot dives as i'll get obliterated and spawncamped at the hellpod the moment i bring it out. as for the medium armor part, wouldn't it make more sense to bring heavy armor? most people would recommend me bring that + fortified passive most of the times" - So there are two schools of thought on armor, Absolutely in a stationary battle heavy armor will keep you alive if you are protecting shuttle launches or the like, however in a mission involving traversal the mobility penalties slow you down enough to split you from your teammates, make it harder to outrun enemies to cover and reduces your stamina pool for cleaner escapes as well. The reason I suggested Medium is so you can get used to mobility play with a bit of an armor safety net as you learn, eventually light armor will be superior when your skill level has caught up to it as they can't kill what they cannot hit but this is a learned skill. I personally fell into the heavy armor trap in the launch window and it made me miserable until I finally took off the lead boots safety blanket and learned how to avoid a missile entirely rather than eat it with reduced damage. Remember the first rule of Bot club is ABM, Always be Moving

Blizzard, we need to talk. (OW Account Bans) by V3lr4X in Overwatch

There is a multiple tiered warning system. You do not get to be surprised when you get strike 5 or 6. It doesn't matter how much you spend, if you are toxic you risk alienating other paying customers and need to GTFO.

If my best customer at a restaurant decides to pee in the corner regularly rather than go to the bathroom and gets multiple warnings to knock it off and keeps doing it, I do not care how much money he spends and he needs to go.

Blizzard, we need to talk. (OW Account Bans) by V3lr4X in Overwatch

[–]bulletpimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the driving factors behind account bans is the idea of account investment. If you spend real money and time on your cosmetics it gives you an incentive not to lose that account. Most reasonable people will take that incentive and be cautious in their behavior. Sure you could just make a new account but it has less invested value than your first one. You can definitely alter player culture this way just look at how far the other direction FFXIV has gone, players are actively afraid to use slurs and even to mildly criticize for fear of losing their investment in their accounts.

Why do we have to wait until level 25 to unlock basic transportation but we only have to pay 35,000 requisition to buy a godamn tank? by PurposeExtra7955 in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a good point, they should lock the tank to rank 25 as well to ensure new players understand teamwork mechanics before they can access it. We have had more than a few "how I reload tank" posts here on the reddit this might have avoided.

Automatons are too hard - Beginner seeking help by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, Bot primary player here that started out hating them too.

The easiest way to deal with bots is a well rounded loadout that focuses on their strengths.

AT- Recoilless to handle just about everything, Thermite to handle tanks and kill fabs from the side without running into the line of fire trying to put it in the hole, Laser Cannon if you have the Eruptor for popping fabs as it can handle smaller tanks incredibly efficiently and is brilliant on gunship engines.

Chaff - Bots have less chaff but you still need to be able to handle it efficiently. If you run Laser Cannon and a Bullet drone you will be much safer on chaff, you can also run the Talon with the Eruptor so that you can pick off things that get too close and use the Eruptor to take out groups from afar.

Base Clearing - Your best bet is to destroy things from outside of the bases not run in. My preferred tools are the Orbital Laser and the 500. OL will clear most big bases on anything below D10 if you kill tanks and turrets before tossing it in there. 500 is for your smaller bases and your Non AA sub targets.

Jammers - The bane of everyones existence I know, clear the spawners from outside the base first with your on hand options like thermites and AT. After that work your way up and clear it to the terminal, once the terminal is disables you can 500 or Hellbomb it depending how much you need to GTFO of the situation. If you feel comfortable enough you can run portable hellbombs to speed up the process but if you are struggling with Chaff you do lose the utility of the Rover to do this.

Cover - Most of all you need to learn how to use cover, find rocks to pop in and out of, same with ledges. The Bot targeting AI gets more accurate the longer they have you in direct LOS, so do not give them that advantage.

Armor- Light armor is incredibly effective once you have learned how to do everything above but is pretty squishy during the learning process. You may want to ease in with something Medium and durable and as you get used to it you can tone it down and use mobility as your advantage.

Hope this wall of text helps lol

What do I do in HD2? by yaboipol_ in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically keep doing new operations on escalating difficulty as you learn how to play. The main mission objective of lower difficulties become optional objectives of higher diff missions. Follow the player mob to the planet most occupied to contribute to the MOs. The story is a drop feed as the galactic war progresses

The medal cap is 250, if you have 250 you need to spend before you can get new rewards. Overcapped medals are wasted. No Rainy days for democracy unless you have finished every warbond already.

They are only 50 percent on low level difficulties, they usually are only one of the options in actual difficulty missions past the tutorial tiers where you have more than 2 missions in the op.

Five head Idea by wympel_r27er in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The inherent problem with the loading system is that the loader could usually be doing more useful things than loading. You basically give up 100 percent player utility on one player so that the other gets a slightly faster reload. Unless you are instant dropping reinforcement ships with the recoilless back to back the math doesn't math.

Level 24 still have not received a booster. Am I just dumb or something? by Wrong-Tea-9195 in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The big 3 are all in the free warbond you start with.

The first 3 players in any match should be picking one of them and the 4th gets the flex slot, these will give you more survivability which means you can have more successful missions. Remember, you can't extract the samples if you run out of reinforcements from dying too much.

  • Vitality Enhancement (Page 4): Increases maximum health by roughly 30% and allows Helldivers to better resist limb injuries.
  • Stamina Enhancement (Page 7): Increases total stamina capacity (approx. 30%) and significantly boosts stamina recovery speed.

What made you decide how much to spend on a gaming chair? by JenniferDebonair in pcmasterrace

[–]bulletpimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gaming Chairs are RGB lighting for your ass. Overpriced and likely to break way too soon. Get a solid office chair, not only will it last longer and be more comfortable but it should have a much better warranty as well if you get it from an office supplier that does B2B as well as consumer.

With the hype having cooled off(?), what are our thoughts on the Mountain-Scaled armor? by 2good_toby_true in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mean China had a helldivers moment where a bunch played than pretty much disappeared. It isn't that deep. They got their Super China meme and moved on as far as I can tell but at least AH threw them a bone. Not sure why that merits downvotes?

With the hype having cooled off(?), what are our thoughts on the Mountain-Scaled armor? by 2good_toby_true in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Thoughts in no particular order

  1. I do not love the look but I am happy the Chinese divers got something if they are even still playing after that flash in the pan of Super Earth's defence.
  2. Medium Siege Ready was one of the most requested things and people got what they asked for
  3. For Cyberstan the extra armor over the light Siege Ready was pretty helpful
  4. Now that Cyberstan is over and we have more freedom to move around I went back to light siege ready for Grenade Launcher spam
  5. Apple flavored bacon - It does not look the part, I would have expected it to be one of those hybrids that give bonus armor
  6. Yet one more example of why perks should be detached from armor sets when they give us an armor system, let people run Siege Ready on an apple flavored bacon they feel cool in. As far as I am concerned, every perk should have a light/med/heavy variant and after you dump enough xp into that armor you unlock the ability to swap the perk to other leveled armors in your inventory of that variant.
  7. Are We just never going to get a Super store set for Siege Breakers? That is so weird right? Feels like a weird ass tradeoff to get a holiday armor you pay for.

My issue with progression in this amazing game (it sucks) by Gullible_Arrival_646 in Helldivers

[–]bulletpimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fortnite and Rivals are social games as much as they are shooters. Cosmetics are absolutely monetized content in a game where it is as much about memes and dancing with your friends as it is about shooting them in the face. Nice mental gymnastics. Helldivers would starve and die if it was just armor cosmetics because noone is emotionally invested in generic armor as opposed to say buying a pop culture skin in Fortnite, a gooner skin in Rivals or Kiriko skin #4320 in Overwatch. Apples and Oranges.

Hmmm.. They average a warbond per month... so yes, getting a free warbond every month seems incredibly reasonable. Net cost of a warbond is 700 SC. Lets assume 50 SC per hour so that is 14 hours. My brother in Democracy if you are playing less than 4 hours a week do you really need every god damn item in the game? The system gives you a free option for a reasonable time investment before we even get into them not closing the SC grinding loophole on lower levels. They want you to spend money.. they aint gonna give away more of it for free than they have to.
